The Rabble have really bent over backwards to bring us what is surely, before a race has even been run, a contender for the most suspect card ever.

Two ropey maidens, a bandit race, Aeroplane’s connections flying in for a quickfire double of a certain type and a schooling race for a bunch of twig hoppers.

My advice is to do what the guy charged with policing the mobile phone zone in the jockey’s room will no doubt be doing, following The Rabble’s decision that he is too expensive for certain fixtires – STAY AWAY!

I don’t think they have done a bad job in terms of staging extra fixtures during the cold spell..

The one exception seems to be this Saturday. We have one "ok" AW card at Lingfield and a bumper card (not that attractive for punters although good for frustrated NH trainers) at Kempton – pretty thin fare for a televised Saturday.

I would have thought Wolves and/or Southwell could have come to rescue again?

Better than watching an endless procession of Henderson/Nicholls 8/15 shots any day.

    Imo of course.

Richard Evans in an effective match in the fog….

It’s like something out of Monty Python.

When are The Rabble going to wake up to the damage they’re doing to the sport’s image?

Only a matter of time before they introduce Harness racing at Lingfield.

The flat jockeys can have a go; I remember my old mate Brian Henry telling me that he had a go, and it fightened the **** out of him. :D

Wow Blues just think of the possibilities , most of our French brothers love it ,and we could even market it to the Usa , IF THEY COULD ONLY PERSUAde the authorities to let them have floodlight facilities , alas its proximity to Gatwick seems to have scuppered that :P

Good idea though , it would be an improvement to the dross currently on offer

What I cannot reconcile is the fact that the prize money is so poor for these extra meetings. Surely the fact that there would otherwise be very little income for the big four during this "white out" should, I would like to hope, have encouraged a little more generosity.

What has prevented decent money reaching the courses and the race prize money? "They" have been taking in millions on the back of a 20K cards.

Poor show if you ask me.

There is absolutely no chance of Lingfield ever being allowed to install floodlights. It has nothing to do with Gatwick and everything to do with the Green Belt.

There is also no chance of proper harness racing being introduced on a regular basis at Lingfield, or any other thoroughbred racecourse, for two reasons:

1 UK harness racing is not internationally recognised – the Scandinavian, French and other European authorities would not tolerate it, and quite rightly.

2 The French (who, being nearest, would presumably be the people responsible for supplying runners and drivers at such meetings) would hardly come all the way over to the UK to run for the pitiful prize money that would be on offer. There are loads of trotting tracks all over France, especially in the Normandy area, which already provide plenty of opportunities for more moderate horses to win decent prize money.
