Is the entry of Punchestowns still up in the air or does anyone know if it def isnt running?. Geraghty was supposed to be riding Diamond Harry but i notice today in the RP that Timmy Murphy is riding does this mean Henderson has had a change of heart?. It’ll be shame if it doesnt take its chance as it’ll be a hot little heat.
January 21, 2010 at 12:32 #271245I may be wrong put I think that’s just outdated information. Will be amended when the decs come out.

January 22, 2010 at 12:52 #271394I really like the way Knockara Beau jumps, I think he has an outside chance in this to upset a few.
Surely Diamond Harry would have been better continuing over the hurdles this season, aiming him at the World Hurdle in March rather than the Arkle?January 22, 2010 at 16:26 #271445Surely Diamond Harry would have been better continuing over the hurdles this season, aiming him at the World Hurdle in March rather than the Arkle?

Uncharacteristic and inconspicuous haste from Mr Williams to want to blow Diamond Harry’s novice chase status with just 12 or 13 weeks of the season remaining.
Big Buck’s and Karabak aside, there’s really not a lot else, if anything, to keep him out of the frame in the World Hurdle at least.

January 22, 2010 at 20:48 #271505I am surprized that they are going down the Novice Chase route at this time of the season.
DH could have had easy pickings with races like the Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock for the taking then maybe one either the Liverpool Hurdle or the Aintree Hurdle before having a go at the bigger obstacles.
At least tomorrow he gets 7lbs and 4lbs off Knockara Beau and Bensalem which will help and he does jump pretty well but will the drop back to 2m4f be a problem.
Cant wait to see him run tomorrow and it will be a pleasure to see some top class jumps at my local.
January 22, 2010 at 23:10 #271522Great day at Haydock tomorrow as it always is. Diamond harry is a penalty kick in my view. He got Cornas to the Arkle last year after a very similar cold start to the fences and this is a different animal altogether. Williams seems like a realist to me. Why run a hurdle race you cant win?

What about the RSA ?
Right now we have Punchestowns who has won the grand total of one novice chase heading he RSA Market.
That’s one more than Diamond Harry which by the end of today will no longer be the case.
2nd favourite Long Run has also jumped British fences the grand total of once.
Wasn’t the intention to go chasing but he won so well 1st time up they decided to test him against the best, Big Bucks?
If it was he will have been well schooled and if he wins today will most likely have one more run before heading to Cheltenham.
All being well he’ll arrive there with 2 novice wins which most likely will be the same as the two above.
He would have no chance of beating Big Buck’s, he has everychance of winning the RSA if they decided to go that route…..good decision hopefully.
