No doubt Pipe will want to win this what with it being named now after vieux lion rouge ,however while if the cap fits is well handicapped he,s much more comfortable over hurdles than fences , I can play him so short , Sandy Thomson hasn’t had a winner in ages and he normally starts the season slowly however 2 2nds and a 3rd yesterday tell me the yard is ready to go so Dingo Dollar is a e.w play , I’ll also go with Cloth cap , he isn’t what he was but he doesn’t need to be to a play here , he,s fragile but fresh he looks a value play to

    Dingo Dollar e.w

    Cloth Cap e.w

Wishing and Hoping can go well fresh, and though a good few pounds higher, he did win this well last year.

Hopefully be a better season following the Sandy Thomson yard this year, and the run of Hill Sixteen yesterday, suggested he’s got them more forward this year. I think Dingo Dollar is an interesting one for Newbury, and was going to sit him out first time, but after a few years now of following him, he’s hard to ignore here.

I’ll stick a saver on Dingo, but main selection is last years winner

    Wishing and Hoping

Well, Dingo Dollar looks a bit of a monkey, well done to the jockey for persevering!
Hoping If The Cap Fits is ok but RUK commentators don’t sound hopeful.

Well done lads with Dingo Dollar.

Bob, Sandy has been good to you over the years, and I think that you’ll have another good year from him by the look of things.

I hope that If The Cap Fits make it

Strange race , Dingo off the bridle early but then at the end looked like he just joined in …poor old Cloth cap was exhausted , Sandy never really got going last year ( loads of 2nds to be fair ) he,ll have some nicely handicapped horses , still think there,s a good prize in Empire Steel , he,s also bought Dingo brother from Ireland …called Ringo I believe

Dingo Dollar ran to type, dreadfully hard work but stays all day and does keep galloping. I remarked to my wife that he still had a chance even when 8th and under the pump at the cross fence. The ‘Kelso Rooftop Cognescenti’ would not have been surprised at that performance.

The demise of If The Cap Fits leaves a sour taste. Talented but never looked comfortable chasing, and wheeling him out in a veterans’ race did not look a good idea and so it proved.
