Explosive comments after the Turners
13:48, 11 March 2026
There appears to have been a disagreement between Nico de Boinville and amateur jockey Declan Queally amid the false start of the Turners.Speaking to ITV Racing’s Matt Chapman after the race, Queally said: “He ran well. The start was a bit of a mess, I got tracked back further than I wanted.
“Being abused by an English rider, Nico de Boinville, wasn’t very nice. I’m an amateur, I’m coming over here riding in front of my kids and that. It was horrific.”
When asked about the incident with Queally, De Boinville responded by saying: “Maybe he should look in the mirror.”
All fun and games.
March 11, 2026 at 14:25 #1758482This is part two:
Wow. The alleged fallout between Declan Queally and Nico de Boinville has erupted.
AP McCoy and Ruby Walsh weighed in on it on ITV Racing, and they were pretty unanimous in support for Queally.
McCoy said: “One person has much right to be there as someone else. Just because whoever you are doesn’t mean to say you should be in there. I don’t think Declan’s done much wrong. I don’t think one person is any more entitled to be there than another.”
Walsh said: “It’s all fun and games, isn’t it? That’s the same Nico de Boinville who rode Jonbon last year and put his head on the tape. Maybe he needs to look in the mirror, too. You need a rolling start. I’ve said it for a long time. If they walk in front of a tape and then it moves in front of the horses, you’d have none of this drama.”
This feels like it could rumble on for a while.

March 11, 2026 at 14:29 #1758489Nothing new , the established riders seem to think they have the right to the inside rail , if you watch unbridled Chapman keeps popping at Paddy saying you don’t like Nico … Looks like he’s a good judge of character

March 11, 2026 at 14:30 #1758493“Handbags….”
Agreed, Nathan.
I very much doubt that Nico is the first jockey to have sworn at one of his colleagues at the start, or that he will be the last.
March 11, 2026 at 14:33 #1758496Imagine what he would say to HDLG after reading the full 184 pages of the Constitution Hill thread.

Eat or be eaten
Nice to see,

Go down to the 2m 4f start at Plumpton, by the railway station. You hear plenty of “banter” then..
Having said that, De Boinville comes across as an arrogant character in interviews, so I can well believe he is not shy about saying a few words.
March 11, 2026 at 14:38 #1758501He could tell to me to **** off …. Id reply asking how many times he fell off the hill … and then tell him to **** off

March 11, 2026 at 14:41 #1758508Racing media chasing headlines and “stories” like Lionel Hutz chasing ambulances. So cringe.
March 11, 2026 at 14:42 #1758510The three ex jockeys on ITV were unanimous Queally had done nothing wrong and I guarantee he would not have done the same had that been Paul Townend.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 11, 2026 at 14:50 #1758516Similar to when Dettori had a go at McMonagle at Ascot, someone who was only a junior jockey at the time.
March 11, 2026 at 14:55 #1758520I’d like to know what “horrific abuse” means.
March 11, 2026 at 14:59 #1758525With Nico ” I say old chap that’s a bit unsporting , I normally start there , any chance you could budge up , that’s a jolly good fellow ” , or he just told him to **** off

March 11, 2026 at 15:34 #1758544Nico gives the impression that being a senior jockey puts him on some sort of high and mighty pedestal.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 11, 2026 at 15:45 #1758550I get the feeling his intitalment goes into general life …
