Maybe the display of the St George flag is in support of Palestine. Let’s face it George had more connection with Palestine than England, a place he possibly didn’t know, having never visited the place.
August 30, 2025 at 20:20 #1739194Come to think of it, George was probably more Mediterranean or Arabic looking than white Anglo Saxon.
August 31, 2025 at 09:24 #1739206Fair and reasoned comment from Drone as ever. Something that would be highly visible as a solution too.
As you note, the age of the climate refugee is coming and what do our right wing parties want to do? Abandon ‘net zero madness’ and keep drilling. Clueless.
Separately, the Express leads with the ‘shocking’ news that a large majority of Britons wouldn’t fight for their country. I thought all these flag wavers were patriots so perhaps they can pick up the guns when the time comes, or does being a patriot suddenly become a bit difficult when it actually involves doing something?
August 31, 2025 at 09:29 #1739207These patriots spend most of their days in Weatherspoons.
The more I know the less I understand.

HDLG you really have lost the plot.
The Chagos deal is about needlessly giving away a UK overseas territory and the billions Labour agreed to hand over for the privilege to Mauritius.Somehow I don’t believe taxpayers would think it’s a good use of their money.
(given a vote on it how do you think it would go?)
How did this ‘black hole’ come about ….. Labour spending is the simple answer to that …. ask Rachel from accounts she’s the ‘expert’ on them both real and imaginary.
(I can’t imagine how you missed it all in the media?)
Let me once again give you the highlights of why my attitude to Labour is so.
1970’s rampant militant unions and Labour bankrupting the country
Blair/Brown years .. one of the first acts of Brown was to destroy private sector workers pensions
then lying to take the country to war, although Robin Cook went up immeasurably in my esteem when he stood up in Parliament and called Blair and his cronies liars in that oh so nice language used in the House of Commons
then we had Blair covering up what really happened when a British citizen died on UK soil.
I’m of course referring to Dr David Kelly, making it an inquiry instead of an inquest meant people could lie through their teeth knowing there would be no repercussions as the difference between them is a witness gives evidence on oath during a inquest.
I think I shall continue posting here all kinds of snippets as I seem to hit a nerve.
good luck to allAugust 31, 2025 at 13:25 #1739214Can I suggest that you listen to Alastair Campbells comments on The Rest is Politics in which he explains about the lead up to the Iraq war. And let’s not forget that Saddam Hussein was a despotic leader who was slaughtering his own people. Having got involved in the war in Yugoslavia when other countries weren’t bothered ( probably because there was no oil there) I’m sure that Blair was convinced that he was doing the right thing re Iraq and there was a parliamentary vote on it. Having said that I think it will haunt him for the rest of his life. It isn’t as if, like other governments or leaders throughout the world, he didn’t start the war to prop up an ailing government or do it to stop himself going to jail. I won’t forget what the Conservatives did to mining communities, either. But that’s another story.
August 31, 2025 at 14:39 #1739217sorry moehat you lost me in the first few words ‘listen to Alastair Cambell’ The bloke is vile, probably makes me a RW Bigot for saying that
August 31, 2025 at 15:19 #1739218Ok how about Rory Stewart discussing Iraq with Alastair? Who doesn’t hold back about what he things about it?
August 31, 2025 at 16:22 #1739220Lol Kid you’ve lost the plot , the deal has cost the about 3 billion , Truss lost 12 in a few weeks , the public had to take huge increases in there mortgage payments due to the interest rate rises , which do you think concerned them more , as for the black hole , I’ll keep repeating it until it sinks in with you, Labour are fixing the mess made by 12 years of Tory government , they arent taking the easy options there actually fixing things , are you disgusted that waiting lists are down or it’s actually quicker to see a doctor ……
August 31, 2025 at 16:27 #1739221The Tories announcing they want to turn back on net zero , yep feck the future generations , who cares about the kids/grand kids , Truss wanted to be Thatcher , Badenoch looks lovingly at Trump , I’ll have a premium Orange juice when the Tories finally knife her ( she’ll be gone by the end of 26)
August 31, 2025 at 17:57 #1739222HDLG
It’s been revealed from government documents that the actual Chogas cost is more than Labour announced.
Take a look at government borrowing costs, where inflation and unemployment are heading and with the unions on the warpath it’s going to get very uncomfortable for Starmer and of course there’s Jezza’s new party.
nwalton
have to agree with you Blair, Campbell & Mandelson are a trio of the most duplicitous, manipulative and untrustworthy people I think this country has ever produced.
good luck to allAugust 31, 2025 at 18:42 #1739226Kid it won’t costing anywhere near what Truss economics did , do you really think the public care , if so why isn’t it all over the front of the papers , Farage is much more of a danger to the Tory vote than Corbyn to Labour’s , I’ll concentrate on the falling NHS waiting times , something the Tories with there cut cut cut mentally could manage , Boris Liar and failure , Truss fraud and failure , Sunak brollyless and failure
September 1, 2025 at 16:49 #1739283You may or may not like Alistair Campbell but it’s not clear to me how simply disagreeing with him would make anyone a ‘far right bigot’.
Just because you don’t like someone doesn’t automatically render their opinion invalid. I imagine if you went through the opinions of every politician and commentator in the land you’d find some you agree with and some you don’t for literally every single one of them, to varying degrees.
September 1, 2025 at 17:09 #1739284because Richard on many occasions if you disagree with the left(labour) straight away thats aimed at you. If you disagree with ‘the new seekers’ you are branded racist, if you voted brexit or reform you are a loon(I will hold my hands up to being a loon) but thats probably to many punches to the bonce. In no way shape or form am I hard right(my late father was a dock workers shop steward) I am just worried for the country but have had that FR/Racist smear aimed at me as have many others for fearing and speaking out at what they are seeing in the country.
Many see the ‘new seekers’ an asset but i dont but suppose people see things differently
September 1, 2025 at 17:21 #1739286The New Seekers? I liked “I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing”.
Haven’t heard much of them lately.
September 1, 2025 at 17:22 #1739287probably having a can of coke
September 1, 2025 at 17:40 #1739289Have a read of the abuse moehat documents further back in the thread, it happens all over. It’s just people being mindless idiots regardless of political persuasion.
Elsewhere, the Greens are announcing the result of their leadership contest tomorrow, I assume we can look forward to non-stop rolling coverage on the BBC.
