This looks much tougher than last year’s race won by
VINO VICTRIX
Win
But a good second here last time to master milliner prior to his win at Goodwood last week sets a good standard.
Drops in grade from a class three.——————————————-
Very good effort but just failed.Hopefully SEVEN winners tomorrow….

LITTLE MUDDY
Place
Only five runners but three places on offer here. If handling the penalty and plenty of evidence to suggest he can, then a place possible here…..Little muddys handicap win was franked by the runner up winning next time out.
Water of Leith was coming to race as a last time out winner and won going away next time out.
Hiya maite and meredif also hold strong form claims involving Hebrides who went to win at listed level next time running after being second to one of these top weights. Little muddy may be able to defy six pounds penalty for win.August 4, 2022 at 16:29 #1609987Three places sees LITTLE MUDDY put a “W” on the board. Gratefully taken.

HABANERO STAR
Can land a win for Hollie Doyle despite top weight.
They meet Anglo Saxon on much more favourable terms than last time.
Habanero Star carries 9 lbs more but anglo Saxon is not far off a stone worse including a penalty while the ratings are reversed in the selections favour.
Only six runners here and off a career low KRAKA is an unlikely improver but with a good draw and the possibility of a bounce from the top players a small stake is taken but HABANERO STAR won here last visit.

SPARKLING RED
Win
I think this horse has an outstanding chance under Connor Beasley.
The favourite is carrying top weight and carries several pounds more than the selection for a win last time out.
Sparkling Red has been second to three decent runners each time and they have all gone on to perform well at a higher level. Maria Branwell turned over crispy cat next time and one of the others went to royal ascot.
The draw data and a factor that I call free energy also come into play here. The selection comes from a similar stall as last year’s runner, if you take the average from the first three stalls home in last year’s race, she’s bang on to be placed. Given there are several more runners this year, there is more scope to find a good position in running and cover
She hung badly for a full two furlongs last time and still finished just half a length down.
Obviously this runner is not straight forward and things need to fall right. If they do she might just win well.
* (Last year’s winner was stall 1. The draw average comes out as 3.66 selection is in stall 5.)

BrightonAugust 5, 2022 at 14:02 #1610083Won readily. Had not had a chance to improve on earlier win due to step up in class.
But this represented a massive drop in class for whistle and flute.
Looking for Linda is in a match race with her rival up in Scotland at 2.10 and may well come out on top.
She ran a good race in second ( on her side ) to woolhampton in the super sprint at wetherby and as such is a potential outlier. Those are the sort of horses that Pricewise no longer mentions in his heavily bookie censored write ups ( why?) Tricasts and forecasts are also never mentioned. The draw is another factor never highlighted when it is so crucial in many races, to the extent that he labelled punters who over obsessed about the Ayr gold cup draw “draw bores”.A three runner race up against a very hot rival may not be the ideal race for an outlier to shine in and we may well have to wait for a handicap or similar big race but a chance is taken on

We aren’t boring are we? Ok, yes we are, but we haven’t sold out to the bookiesAugust 5, 2022 at 14:20 #1610084Two very good winners has put me in the unusual position of being able to CASH OUT on my next selection SPARKLING RED.
Because of the price and the lack of need to play at those odds.
I’ve flagged up a race in Ireland later that looks better value and I may well invest in that instead. I cannot see anything approaching yesterday’s screamer as yet but I’ll keep a lookout.
Sparkling Red is still a cracking bet (imo) and I’ve reduced my stake on it which ensures a profit on today’s activities.MUSSLEBURGH
