You won’t know for a while the reason or aim for this new thread, and for some time it will look similar to any of those that have been before.
I hope it will scale new heights, we will see.
My first selection comes in the amateur race at Newbury at 1 pm.
Mark Usher has been on my radar of liked trainers for sometime. He always give honest appraisal of his horse’s chances. He uses Twitter to good effect and like Milton Harris has a good rapport with his horse’s owners.
He runs MERTZINGER for the horse’s turf debut in a departure from last year’s narrow second.
MERTZINGER burst on the scene last year at chelmsford by winning on stable debut for Usher.
Was heading for a Mark Prescott type of development when he left mid preparation a few runs into being run off the wrong type of trip and was already to exploit his mark when sent “oven ready” to Usher.
Wether the horse appreciates the surface, this is a good type of race to try him out. The pace is likely to have a collapse at the business end and there will be two ways to win this.
Off the pace or make all.
He is a big price and is unexposed.
    MERTZINGER
    Each way
    FRANCISCO BAY
    Win

    MARBAAN
    2.00 Nottingham
Ridden by Jamie Spencer for the second time was a very close running on third behind
    Godolphin’s
    MYSTERIOUS NIGHT
    On debut,
Who runs in the 2.10 Newbury
Will make for a short priced win double.

    Kevin Ryan’s
    DREAM FOR GOLD
    2.00 Nottingham
    And
    Clive cox’s
    JOHN SHARD VC
    2.10
    Newbury
Are fancied in an each way double
To give them most to do.

John Shard VC went very close to taking a place.
But a nice win double on second bet to kick start the thread.
Jamie Spencer could be on another winner here at Nottingham 2.30
    Thunder Roar
    Win.
    And THUNDER ROAR WIN WITHOUT
    DEVOTED POET
His form behind subsequent listed winner in Ireland HANNABAL BARCA looks much stronger here given the time that has elapsed since he ran him to second place on the ‘ wrong side’ of the draw. Hannabal Barca running fourth behind Luxembourg and earning a decent rating of 111 before winning at group level.

    DANDY MAESTRO
    Win/ place
    Newbury 3.40
No claimer on board here and despite giving up 7lb, more may be made of this runner who has a good turf record.
Pulled up in the office recently when little use made in finishing second. Subsequently won by seven lengths, beaten favourite last time.
    Clearly more to come.

    Nottingham 4.35
    WYNTER WILDES
    Win.
Steps up in trip this afternoon and may be able to stay ahead of the handicap.
Wide margin winner last time and encouragement was the way he stayed on having taken it up a furlong out. Questions about the ground but could improve.

Too bad to be true, but bits of form which suggests, better handling would see this horse in a better light.
    EIGHTY TWO TEAM
    Win
Lots of chase and point to point form.
Harry Cobden rides for the first time.
More scope than most and proven over the trip.
2nd to HOT AS PEPPER in a point to point and the best form on show 3rd to BURN THE EVIDENCE in a maiden hurdle.

    MORGENSTERN
    Win
Lower class than the favourite but weighted and treated well and with wins in the bank, can continue in good vein of form.
Aviewtosea will make into a decent chaser but may need the experience. Second to 140 rated french dynamite over points.

    WITH A START
    POLITICISE
    Both each way

Both high in the weights and both have high draws to contend with.
Noel Meades runner has the help of Colin Keane. While unique to Ireland John McConnells runner has a ten pound claimer on board.
    ———————————————
WITH A START was prominent and held on for a fifth place which paid out at 22/1 touched 28s.
Inauspicious start to the thread with a couple near misses two winners in a double and two nice each ways.
Marban and mysterious night both won
Dream for Gold was 3rd @ 18/1 but was in a double with John Chard VC who was a neck fourth @ 6/1
    Becky Boo 3rd @ 22/1
The aptly named WITH A START obliged 5th @ 22/1 thanks to Colin Keane.

Thank you very much Triptych and Big G.
It is a real slow burner.
I hit the buffers recently and so am slowing down selection wise, but I thought if I don’t put this thread up now it’ll not happen.
As and when I can I’ll get some physics based forecasts up here and hopefully we’ll land some nice touches.
    Best wishes to you both.
