Orientor, Kildimo, and the worst horse still in training "Gift Horse"! an
absolute donkey!February 18, 2009 at 02:28 #210810Poor thing, Nichols place isnt the tidiest place on the planet.
February 18, 2009 at 02:50 #210815Its those "American Barns" that look so drafty! they obviously dont affect
the horses mind! I expected to see stablestars"Bahamian"and "Continent" in stables with shag pile carpets and central heating, but they have the same as every other inmate, personally i would let "Gift horse" sleep under the stars!February 19, 2009 at 01:39 #210999Briery Fox! Must have backed it 7 or 8 times! Fortunately most of those were each way so his consistency has spared my losses being large!
February 19, 2009 at 01:46 #211001Dasher Reilly in his frequent Ludlow efforts in his early Evan Williams days
February 19, 2009 at 01:47 #211002Lennox Lewis,I must have backed it 20 times.
If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.

Gungadu – my friend who put me on to him still won’t admit that he’s not the best pointer she’s ever seen
February 19, 2009 at 02:25 #211013Spring Cabbage comes to mind. I backed it a couple of times when I was 7 or 8 because I liked the name. Form figures were somewhere along the lines of 000000
February 19, 2009 at 02:29 #211015Two biggest losses Ive ever made were Antonius Pius in the 2004 St James Palace stakes and Yeats in the 2005 Iirsh Leger (yeats wasnt as hard to take as had an almost equal bet on Oonagh Maccool a couple of days earlier come in).
Biggest over jumps was Detroit City in the 2007 Champ Hurdle.
February 19, 2009 at 05:27 #211072When Getaway won the Jockey Club Stakes by an outstanding 4 lengths – regardless of the field he met – I suffered a mancrush. Instantly walloped a small fortune at 11/5 for the Coronation Cup, and then sooked about it on here afterwards.

One I have followed foolishly in recent times was US Ranger. I finally severed ties in the Breeders’ Cup after a betting stint from the Golden Jubilee to the de la Foret.
February 19, 2009 at 13:32 #211090Although I won a right few quid on Nayyir-I done my brains & wallet on him a few times. Most notable was when he opened at 7/2 in a Gp3 at Newmkt.
First run of the season & I lumped on playing with money I had won at all prices on Motivator in the Derby.
Accelerated to lead into the dip & was btn by a fully fit Vortex when he tired.
Gutted just thinking about it.
Same with Wayward Lad & Lucky Bay-won many times on them but the big bets were btn.February 19, 2009 at 17:50 #211139Aaarrggghh the memories

Ever since I fell in love with him when he won the Irish champion I backed Nomadic Way in his subsequent starts, including consecutive seconds in the following two champion hurdles.
He never won a race for over two years, including numerous times when sent off jolly.
Eventually he was stepped up in trip for the stayers and finally at this point I gave up on him, thinking he wouldn’t see it out well enough.
Oops.
There was something about seeing those Sangster colours running over hurdles that I loved.

Im glad you’ve admitted that Martin, he is your love child.
For me, probably, My Way De Solzen.
February 19, 2009 at 18:18 #211145For me Franchoek.
Won a fair bit on him over his juvenile season, however I have been on the receiving end of a couple of eye-watering reversals since.
February 19, 2009 at 18:27 #211147Racing Demon has attempted to kill me.
I remember his taking debut and piled into him next time out. At the time I was disappointed when he finished 2nd although he bumped into another progressive sort in Chilling Place.
He was a mighty short price next time and missed him when scooting home at Exeter but did back him 33/1 Ante Post for Royal & Sun Alliance. He finished 2nd in the big race at Cheltenham.
On his Chasing debut had been the only time to get him right, although stakes were ‘medium to well done’ because fearing rival Chilling Place.
As was his want, Racing Demon jumped right in the Arkle and cost me a good Festival.
He was 3 from 3 when caught fresh – He jumps right handed so when he reappeared at Exeter for the Haldon Gold Cup – I went in ‘boots and braces’. Demon ditched Graham Lee at 3rd or 4th fence.
I backed him w/o Kauto Star in the King George – he finished 3rd
He looked a ‘stone cold’ cert racing off his hurdles mark in the Kempton Hurdle – he was travelling with a double handful with falling over hurdles.
The Racing Demon project was put to bed shortly after the Punchestown Gold Cup and moved to the Calgary Bay supporters club.
April 15, 2009 at 18:15 #221983Another one to pluck from my list:
BOYCHUK.
Richard Johnson, you have stopped me on the edge of the cliff, and provided a path to the other side.
However, i’ve just looked at the RP website, and it was the 16th time i’ve backed him since pipping Gungadu in a novice chase when Adam was a lad.
April 15, 2009 at 18:58 #221987razor royale – loved how he travelled when i watched him in a bumper. Missed the 2 times he has won over hurdles but backed him heavily for all the 5 to 7 other losses!
