June 10, 2013 at 21:47 #442418Well played Steve! I wish I knew why it does that as the Photograph is the correct way round when I download/upload whatever the correct ****** term is!!
June 11, 2013 at 18:46 #442527Terribly sad news about Sir Enery – one of the greatest modern day trainers and probably the best ever trainers of fillies!
RIP Henry – you will be missed
June 11, 2013 at 20:50 #442541Agreed Gary,a very sad day,Henry played an incredibly huge part in my learning process of this great sport.Owners like the St Georges,Louis Freedman,Lord Howard de Walden,Stavros Niarchos and Carlos d’Alessios Italian Flag silks were synonymous with horses trained by Sir Henry, back in those glorious days of the 80’s Prince Khaled wasn’t associated with Warren Place like he was in the past 20yrs,Guy Harwood and Jeremy Tree were his 2 main Trainers but he has proved an absolute rock for Henry, not only maintaining a loyal support through his horses but also a friendship that in itself has kept Henry living longer than most would with an illness as serious as his for it was he who ensured Henry recieved the very best care in the world when sending him to America for Cancer treatment.
A story that has stuck with me all my betting life surrounds the Genius that was Sir Henry,I dont know why but he loved to send his horses to Nottingham,I’m sure he once said that it was because its a flat galloping course and very fair for an unraced horse, this particular day he had sent a colt calledPerreal
and those of us who knew how the Bookies worked at Nottingham knew how to clean up on one from Warren Place.Bookmakers loved to try and get one of Henrys and no end of time they would price one of his unraced sorts be it a 2yo or 3yo it would open up Odds-On,5 minutes later its trading Odds against and drifting to around the 7/4 mark, very ocassionally even bigger, that was supposed to tell us it was unfancied,Not in our world we’d be on like a shot and more often than not his horse won. This particular day I had been down the Casino and had lost about £150 but thanks to ‘Perreal’ opening at 8/11 and winning at 13/8 I recovered my stupid losses.I’ve never lost like an idiot in the Casino since, thanks to Sir Henry Cecil……….God bless him,he was a Genius!
June 12, 2013 at 12:35 #442580The word on Twitter is that
Dawn Approach
will make a surprise appearance in the St James Palace Stakes on Tuesday,Old Jims up to his funny business again telling all and sundry that it will be a while before we see the Big chestnut again but it will be worth waiting for! All those who took the fancy prices on Betfair that he’ll turn up,Good luck to you.its not everyday you get on at 100’s and 90’s about a certainty who will go off the 5/4fav on the day!
June 12, 2013 at 12:50 #442583Gord any thoughts on Royal Ascot will you be doing a preview on every race like cheltenham festival here my picks so far.
No, I like Royal Ascot but I Love Cheltenham and its Cheltenham I do best at because I spend all year studying for it Darren,I have a sneaky feeling about
Chapter Seven
as a Hunt Cup horse, not a bloody pacemaker!I like the
Duke of Firenze
for the Wokingham but my banker is
Simenon
in the Gold cup,I have rated this fellow since he dissapointed in the ‘Supreme’ hurdle of 2012 and have backed him accordingly at 16/1.I’m still looking forward to a great week though………..
Dawn approach
,I hope he runs.I do!
June 12, 2013 at 14:12 #442589Anyone fancy Trading Leather for the Irish Derby?
Had a look at the betting today and he is 16/1 with Stan James. Paddy Power only go 9/1
Not all the big firms have priced the race up yet but Ruler Of The World is best priced 15/8 with Stan James, Libertarian about 4/1 and Battle Of Marengo 6/1.
I see no reason why Battle Of Marengo would reverse placings with those who finished ahead of him at Epsom.
I think Ruler Of The World might be a good thing having beaten most of those behind him in the betting, looks like he has the best tactical speed and surely has potential to improve again having gone from maiden to group 3 to group 1 in three races.
Trading Leather a best price 6/1 now. That 16/1 is looking a bit tasty now.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
June 12, 2013 at 18:52 #442606Who do you think Mr Mullins will get to ride Simenon? Cannot see Ryan Moore deserting the Royal horse despite having no chance .d Stubbs at 9/2 for the Coventry looks nice!
I like Hawkeyethenoo in Diamond Jubilee but respect Society Rock, have also backed Most Improved in the Queen Mary. Also like Emilio Largo in Hunt Cup if he runs an

I remember Gary Carroll riding for him in the past, wonder if there’s any possibility he’ll come in for the ride?

Its called Foresight Steve,a word used quite occassionally on here. Its a great feeling just beating the price but an even greater one when it comes off.I’m very confident
Trading Leather
will beat ‘Ruler of the world’……….So long as it doesn’t rain! Good luck, well spotted and continue with the Ante-Post theme.By the way whats the best 2yo you’ve seen this year?

Hughesy would suit
Simenon
,put him to sleep early and just coast round,3 out and he’s hanging off the Queens ar*e with ‘Saddlers Rock’ rowin,’Rite of Passage’ is beaten and its a case of letting a reef out and offski………..Simples and TAPK has landed yet another Coup!
If next years 2000gns winnerStubbs
goes off 9/2 in the Coventry,my names Gaylord not Gord! GET ON!
I hope you took the 20/1 aboutHawkeyethenoo
too!
June 13, 2013 at 17:19 #442671I have 20s and 16s about Hawkeyethenoo mate and 12s Simenon too.
Totally agree about Stubbs at 9/2 as well, Club Wexford will hopefully confirm the form now.
June 13, 2013 at 17:31 #442672Nice and simple, easy 110 quid made lol
June 13, 2013 at 19:14 #442680Some great results today Gary,
Club Wexford
had to win and did thankfully, easily!
Leitir Mor
should have been the 7/2 2nd fav imo not 13/2!! And the result of the day for me was
Morpheus
,Sir Henry aptly entered him to break his duck at Nottingham and it was emotional! Enough said!
June 14, 2013 at 12:52 #442727One of my mates down sarff has just given me some news on the 620 Goodwood. SIR MIKE is expected to go very close, lto they believe the ground was a bit too fast for him. He likes the course, doesnt have far to travel, yard in form and capable apprentice up.
7s wont last that long and best odds helps
June 14, 2013 at 16:41 #442745I being the legendary King of Ante-Post betting will single handedly get William Hill to cut him from 20/1 to 16/1 before the weeks out……..Mark my words!
Well there you go Gord, a little bit later than planned but yer man’s into 16s
