Can someone please explain why in the middle of the NH season the BHA and co think we needed to have 3 AW meetings on the one day on both 4th / 5th January with a solitary NH meeting at Hereford and Lingfield….

We’ve discussed this before. I know people like to have a pop at the BHA but they have very little control over the fixture list.

Because it is also the middle of the All Weather season and the all weather championships are three months or so away, why shouldn’t they put all weather on if they want to.

The continued snobbery towards all weather on here is ridiculous, All weather is here it is happening and it is staying.

Nobody is suggesting it is going away, unfortunately. That ship has long sailed.

Bit confused as to why people thinking it is in the main low quality rubbish equates to snobbery. It is just an opinion, some might think based on fact.

As demonstrated by the predictable abandonment of Lingfield it does make some sense to schedule more AW racing in January and February, this was originally what it was introduced for – to keep the betting revenue ticking over.

Having said that, today was a nice rare day off from racing. No interest in AW racing and never will have.

I’m sure there’s plenty of Rugby Union fans who don’t take any interest in Rugby League and vice versa, for example. This doesn’t make them any less of a fan.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and has the right to express it, isn’t that what forums are all about?

Just because someone has a completely different view to your own doesn’t mean they are wrong and you are right. Feel free to challenge anyone with a sensible, reasoned argument, but to start name calling is just childish.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

No idea. Personally I detest AW racing and if it eventually comes down it I would stop watching and going horse racing all together if it became the norm.
They did it years ago with greyhound racing and I no longer have an interest in it because it is predominanltly sand based now.
This is just my opinion though and many will disagree.
However it would be interesting to see how many people actually attend AW racing compared to a similar day of NH or flat racing and again the betting turnover on AW to a typical similar NH or flat day.
If anybody as the facts then please let us know.

According to this table (http://www.britishhorseracing.com/press_releases/british-racings-2017-fixture-list-published/), the number of jumps fixtures per year has risen recently. It covers 2010-17 and this year is the only one in that time over 600. So what if there’s a few blank days or days dominated by AW? I also notice some jumps only days (seems to be Sundays) in the summer in the list.

363 days of racing in total this year, you don’t get that with any other sport.

I presume that jumps tracks didn’t bid for the dates. May be a result of a lot of jumps racing over the holiday period.
