As this is the first season I have been compiling my new speed figures, and with Royal Ascot approaching, I thought what sort of speed figures have been required to win at the Royal meeting.
I sat down and rated every 2yo race at Royal Ascot for the past five years back to 2006 and sorted them into the main six races (every runner).

Excel.xlsTo win the Coventry stakes I would be looking for a horse that can achieve a figure of at least
80
May 28, 2011 at 14:45 #357645Swiss Spirit in the 4:35 at Newmarket today
I’d be amazed if Rio Grande doesn’t win that.
Him and Hamza could do Gatepost’s form the world of good.
May 28, 2011 at 16:08 #357670The more i think about it the better i believe Power is. That 2nd horse is a real proper animal and clearly 6f will be to his benefit. Who knows how much improvement is in their especially against the Poor English 2yr olds so far.
May 28, 2011 at 23:30 #357712The Coventry looks absoulutely muck this year. The market is terrible on betfair at the moment. one horse 3/1 favorite the rest all double figures
May 29, 2011 at 03:13 #357716Gatepost’s form was let down horribly today, twice. No RPR in for Mezmaar yet but he’s run a little too close to the meeting for my liking.
May 29, 2011 at 09:18 #357735Being a revolutionary at heart, I plunged on Frederick Engels at Haydock yesterday and expected to collect – only to see him left for dead by
Shumoos
.
I wouldn’t spend much time trying to get her beat should she go for the Queen Mary. She’s got the Wow factor.

Hamza, beaten 2.5 lengths by Gatepost at York, was a length behind the winner at Beverley. Rio Grande was beaten 1.5 lengths at Newmarket whereas Gatepost gave him 5lbs and an 8 length beating at York. I think "horribly" is overstating it a tad.
I’m also reluctant to accept that the timing of Mezmaar’s run is a negative as far as his Coventry prospects are concerned. He didn’t have a hard race on Friday and the gap between the two races is 18 days – can’t see a problem, myself.

Indeed. And I’d been counting my money on Dozy .
May 29, 2011 at 18:16 #357819Great Performance by Teolane today…going to the filly race at Royal Ascot.
May 29, 2011 at 19:13 #357824When are the entries out for Royal Ascot 2yr olds races. Want to get some work/research started.

Some perople think that
Miss Work Of Art
is a good thing for Ascot, and if so this makes
Shumoos
a steering job.
The figure she returned at Haydock
78
put her up with the best and with natural inprovement will make her a Group 1 filly in time.

June 4, 2011 at 13:44 #358835Wow.
Frederick Engels
has just made two or three fancied two year olds look like pit ponies.
How good does this make
Shumoos?

I look forward to compiling the ratings for this race on Monday.
The going must have been very fast today at Musselburgh, and if you were conservative and said the going allowance today was +0.23s/f this would give Frederick Engels a rating of86
This rating would be right up there with the best. The going had to be firm and not good to firm as stated.

June 5, 2011 at 20:31 #359137Frederick Engels earned a 103 RPR which puts him right up there. Brown was clearly stunned when he got beat at Haydock when RUK got a quick word afterwards. Shumoos looked special and clearly was, 2/1 though for Ascot
June 6, 2011 at 10:32 #359210Ruby what you think of Bolger putting Teolane in a listed race today.
Also another listed 2yo race as well Requinto would be hard to beat if it was 5f but i feel he may get beat
Any news when Parrish Hall will race next
And are any unraced horses you are waiting to see.I remember last year Glor Na Mara was being hyped up before he had a race but was dissapointing
June 6, 2011 at 17:11 #359264TEOLANE won today giving another bost to MAYBE.But this filly has now improved even more be intresting when they clash again.Maybe in the Moyglare.TEOLANE is as low as 12/1 for 1000 guineas
Also Lilbourne Lad won easy today and could go for the Coventry.
