The winner wasn’t even hands and heels. Jockey just sat motionless to the line. Completely different gravy and can dominate the division next year also.

If anybody genuinely thinks the best horse didn’t win that race then sorry to break it to you that’s called – Pocket talking.

Robbo its possible he may have won still but we will never know. Dettori said post race he felt good in the race but got stopped and had no chance thereafter. It just turned out to be an unsatisfactory race.

Wd by the way and wd winners.

“Cork, in the last furlong Frankie pretty much gave up. A tender hands and heels.”

Fair enough, he did. But I agree with Robbo. I think the best horse on the day won.

The back group of 5 or 6 jockeys have all given their mounts poor rides id say, they didn’t seem to go very fast at all up front and they were happy to sit miles back

Whereas subjectivist was given a very good one

The race was effectively over turning into the straight

One or two might have got closer but the winner was too good on the day. Stradivarius would have been no better than second even given a clear run.

Having put Princess Zoe up on here a while back I deserted her on the day, but she ran an absolute stormer on ground which was presumed too quick for her. She seems to find extra gears once she passes the two mile mark!

A shocker from Dettori. The positioning was bad enough, but yet again he simply cannot be bothered to ride out a finish for a place. Gets away with it time after time. How that could be construed as him trying to achieve the best position possible is beyond me.

But its good old Frankie so nowt will be said or done.

Agree TTC. I wonder how many placepots went down because the darling of Ascot could not be bothered once he knew his chance of winning had gone?

I agree that Frankie is tender with favourites once their chance of winning has gone, TTC. But he does not stop riding. ie Yes, imo Stradivarius probably would’ve been placed today had he used the whip in the closing stages, choosing instead hands and heels once his winning chance had gone.

However, there are no rules to say a rider needs to use the whip so technically did nothing wrong. Nobody can be certain how much difference a whip would’ve made, therefore not using it can not be punished.

“The jockey is responsible for riding the horse and trying to achieve the best possible finish in any given contest.”

I cannot see how that finishing ‘effort’ could be construed as meeting the above crtieria GT.

Hear trainers saying it all the time “jockey was easy on him once he was beat”
Frankie would be top of the league for it though.

It happens a fair bit on the flat by jockeys especially in handicaps. Cant catch the winner, take it easier the last furlong and avoid a weights rise next time is probably in their thinking. Been occasions ive been on one each way and they stop giving their all in the closing stages and others go past whereas if they kept riding properly to the line a place would’ve been likely. I’m sure I’m not the only one that has experienced this.

The front two were never going to be headed by Frankie so he let the horse coast in which is fair enough but it’s the consistency that bugs me when so called lesser jockeys get pulled up for it. I agree Ryan doesn’t half make it hard for himself. He showed on love how to read a race but could have had at least two more winners with better rides. Sir lamorak should have won if he’d moved earlier imho.

Only just seen a replay of the Gold Cup, Oh Dettori, why no debate on here regarding poor position during the race, did ITV grill Dettori? or did he get a JOE BIDEN pass.

Nobody complained about Dettori the 12 times he won on this horse.

People should just accept that Stradivarius has been beaten in 4 of his last 5 races and he hasn’t won a group 1 since July 2020.

His best days are behind him. Still a very good horse but clearly past his peak.

How about we concentrate on the new champion, a champion who won magnificently. A horse who was having his first run back from Dubai, a horse who ideally would have had a warm up race in the U.K. prior to this win. A horse who had a troubled preparation in the lead up to the gold cup and missed vital training sessions and overcame an injury and even ran in this race with his skin visibly damaged from an accident.

Despite all of this he still won effortlessly and could potentially win the next 2 Gold cups maybe even 3.

I would go as far as too suggest that if this race was ran again in a months time under identical conditions that the champ would beat the old champ by even further.

Nope let’s just slate Dettori instead.

Hey, Robbo are you ill, no one is debating 12 wins, a defeat from a poor ride is what we’re debating.
As I’ve stated ITV gives Dettori A Joe Biden pass, whose best days are you referring to Dettoris or Stradivarius. And whats these next 3 Gold Cups you’re talking about, you remind me of most of the fools on here talking Horse Racing Nonsense. Take a few days off Robbo the rest will do you, good mate. :mail: :mail:

80% of Dettoris rides are poor. You may as continuously state that the water is wet.

Of course it was a bad ride, but it made absolutely no difference to the result and nobody in their right mind would have backed Stradivarius ew though of course place pot punters would be rightfully miffed. Though place pot punters should have known that when Dettori knows he can’t win he regulary fails to ride for the place.

I’m no Dettori fan and as somebody who has continuously got away with not riding for the places and not being punished and also somebody who has been caught taking cocaine on more than one occasion and many years apart – I would say Dettori is a terrible example for young jockeys to look up to and his personality is vile.

Regardless of this the performance of the winner was spectacular and he can only improve hugely from here on in. Stating that he could win the next 2 gold cups looks a fair observation to me. To make it about Dettori doing what Dettori has always done takes away from the winner who won on merit and is any amount better than Stradivarius is.
