Adding Magic Circle, Chester Cup win was exceptional. 7 places with Skybet and 6 with Hills, and some good odds to be had with B365s fixed win market.

I’d like Magic Circle to win.

More than happy to add Nakeeta here, 50’s ew with seven places will do for me from that draw.

Could easily have a third string. If I do, it will be between Prince of Arran 18’s win, or Who Shot The Barman 66’s each way.

I think Who Shot the Barman has the stall 18 slot that has never won. Why does Marmelo not seem to stay 2 miles when he stays 15f? I’d like Nakeeta to do well. Annoyingly have booked my car in for it’s MOT on Tuesday when I could have done with not having to get up early.

Have just read a review that said Marmelo hasn’t had a prep run this year as they felt it jaded him somewhat last year, so I’m backing him; got a good draw, too. It also said Youngstar has a chance if it stays and Ventura something or other is a good outsider. Can’t believe it’s a year since young O’Brien won; where does the time go?? I do want Magic Circle to win, though.

A fair bit of rain about at Flemington apparently; that may hinder a few of the European runners.

I like Avilius. He tanked his way round in the Bart Cummings at the start of October and beat Jammeh giving her 10 pounds, so he has decent course form. He should handle conditions and the way he travels gives him a bit shout of staying.

Finche looks well handicapped on the best of his European form and could come on bundles for his Australian debut when 3rd behind Runaway in the Geelong Cup.

That Geelong Cup was indeed won by Runaway and I love his draw. He did win over 14 furlongs at Flemington back in April.

The last one to take note of was Ace High who I heard came back all wrong after the Caulfield Cup for what he was very well fancied for. He lost a photo finish in the Grade 1 Australian Derby over 12 furlongs back in April and won the AAMI Victoria Derby at this course last November. He’s by High Chaparral and although the draw is a hindrance, he’s fairly priced.

I’d love to see a British trained winner, but feel there’s value to be had in the ‘home’ team.

    Avilius 10/1 (win)
    Finche 20/1 (e/w – 7 places)
    Runaway 50/1 (e/w – 7 places)
    Ace High 50/1 (e/w – 7 places)

I’m on Best Solution from way back at 40/1. Still happy with
him, but as the track is going to be riding heavy I’ve had a look to see who
is likely going to be at home on that, and I reckon Red Cardinal has a shout at 50/1.
He did well enough in 3rd on heavy last month carrying a few pounds more than the
others in a conditions race over 1m 5f. The Ozzie guys I’m listening to on the radio
gave a run through of the field and mentioned the jockey Damien Oliver quite favorably
and he’s drawn well in 5.

Good luck all you night owls, I hope a few off us can keep our eyes open long enough to
    see/hear it live :good:
