confirmed she is out of Cheltenham. Leg injury.
January 25, 2017 at 10:41 #1283700Gutted about the news. I am at work and have been catapulted back to 2016 when I heard the Faugheen news.
January 25, 2017 at 11:10 #1283704Henderson sitting poised for faugheen to bomb out on sunday to announce altior back over hurdles now
January 25, 2017 at 11:19 #1283705Or Buveur D’Air.
I still think Yorkhill might turn up here.
January 25, 2017 at 11:28 #1283708Looking more likely that atleast 1 of them will be re-routed here, especially from the mullins camp, bring in yorkhill if he thinks NC cant finish atleast 2nd, if NC does turn up on sunday and is behind Petit M again i think the chances of yorkhill appearing here are HIGH, genuinely believe they were going to run AP and faugheen in this, faugheen and yorkhill is possible now
January 25, 2017 at 11:39 #1283711I doubt the presence of Faugheen would trouble NJH were he considering a CH challenge with Altior but I very much hope I’m wrong and that he does get rerouted.
I suspect the QM is now in the yard’s mind, hence the Game Spirit plans. Were it ‘just’ the Arkle for him, he’d be more likely to be rerouted, but Henderson seems committed now to chasing with him.
January 25, 2017 at 11:58 #1283714He already stated the presence of faugheen and ap where why he went chasing, or he would be a CH horse and wouldnt hesitate to reroute him without those two in the race, if faugheen romps it on sunday he will stay chasing, if faugheen looks vulnerable, who knows maybe he will turn up

Really?? Henderson stated the reason Altior went chasing was because
of the presence of Faugheen and Annie Power?…..sounds very unlike NHJanuary 25, 2017 at 12:29 #1283722Despite the rumours, personally can’t see Yorkhill running anywhere bar the JLT.
Should the ‘big two’ fail to show up, has Nichols Canyon, Arctic Fire and Vroum Vroum Mag as possible runners.
Yorkhill long term could be one serious chaser.

I have Yorkhill at 20’s but I am resigned to this way of thinking as well.
January 25, 2017 at 13:23 #1283730Coral’s brief attempt at laying Faugheen @ 11/4 did not last too long.
At the moment i think everything revolves around him at the moment.
It’s just pot luck trying to figure out this race while he is still in it IMO.
Certainly with AP out as well. If Faugheen does not make it consequences for so many Ante Post horses.
Supreme – Will MR run
Arkle – Will Altior run
JLT – Will Yorkhill run
Stayers – Will VVM run
Mares – Will AJ run6 races could be turned upside down. Irish Champion will have a few interested viewers i think.

Interesting. Have you a link to that quote?
January 25, 2017 at 14:20 #1283732If that Henderson quote is correct I suspect it is several months old. Altior will run in the Arkle. Everyone knows Henderson worries about everything but no particular reason at any stage to have been worried about Faugheen. I don’t think an on-song Faugheen would have lived with Altior but they are not going to meet. He is using the Game Spirit as an Arkle prep as did Sprinter Sacre.
I suppose there is an outside chance that Yorkhill might pitch up in the Champion Hurdle but I wouldn’t waste too much time thinking about it because he has so many flaws he doesn’t win any of the three races being talked about.
Very pleased to say it doesn’t look as if Mullins is going to get close to cleaning up this year. Now if we could only get rid of the those mare’s races…..
January 25, 2017 at 14:35 #1283734I’d be surprised if Yorkhill could win a Champion Hurdle. Progeny of Presenting are very rarely 160+ over 2 miles, especially not over hurdles.

The difference this year is he doesn’t have a Finian’s Rainbow (who won that year’s QM). Cautious as he is, and nervous as he is, if declared for the QM with Douvan, most of the rest would head to the Ryanair leaving maybe even four or five to beat and I see no reason to fear Douvan. Even second place in the QM gets just 10k less in prize money than winning the Arkle. Of course they wouldn’t like to see a defeat and it’s not all about cash, but, everything considered and assuming he saunters home at Newbury, why on earth wouldn’t they go for the QM?

I love to see Altior beat up Douvan but he is hardly an OAP and he can do that next year. In a way it would be nice to see him take down Min again this year and then see off the really big gun next year.

Yawn.
Run Altior in the QM + run Douvan in the Gold Cup if he wins the QM.
