Emerging Force still in a few firms lists, but for info, out for the season.
December 3, 2017 at 18:41 #1330216Really boring selection I know, but just can’t see past Blaklion for this…
Would love to see Nige stick some headgear on though…just can’t help thinking it would bring further improvement…lost count of the number of times he’s looked the likely winner of a race and not managed to see it out!
Have taken 5/1…
December 3, 2017 at 20:54 #13302315/1 is very short for this kind of race, and he has to carry a share of weight too. I’m a fan but think there’s better value elsewhere. Something like Aubusson, who looks well handicapped, might go well of a low weight. He was on the process of running a good race at Cheltenham last time until his saddle slipped and looks a strong stayer despite never running at Aintree before. If his jumping holds up I can see him running well.
December 3, 2017 at 23:26 #1330281I’m happy to assume that Regal Encore won’t go here, but he paid his way yesterday for me, so no complaints on that front. I’ve added a couple tonight, and it’s the other two from the first post. That leaves me with…..
Gas Line Boy 14’s Win & Ew
Three Faces West 25’s Ew
Three Faces West 17’s to 21’sWesterner Point 33’s Win
Westerner Point 34’s to 36’s
Dare to Endeavour 50’s Win & EwDecember 4, 2017 at 18:24 #1330374I got 40’s and 33’s about Portrait King and Lord Windermere respectively last night, which seems a relief now!
Gas Line Boy and Vieux Lion Rouge are the only other ones that remain of my original fancies, so I’m happy where i am right now. Can’t see the prices contracting too much between now and raceday unless the race cuts up big time.
Just praying for heavy!
December 4, 2017 at 19:32 #1330389A bit surprised to see Three Faces West taken out, so my main hopes now with Gas Line, though I won’t complain if the other pair come in either.
December 4, 2017 at 19:55 #1330396Aubusson not declared which is not surprising, I’m tempted by Westerner Point off such a low weight and had been intriguingly campaigned over hurdles and 2m over fences. Hard to call him well handicapped on 134 but if it comes up heavy he’d have a squeak.
Otherwise Blaklion is worthy favourite but 3/1 is just madness in this kind of race. Vicente or As De Mee could be my choices come the day with Nicholls going well.
December 4, 2017 at 22:37 #1330419I have backed three in this GAS LINE BOY 12/1 GOODTOKNOW 25/1 and FREDERICI 25/1
I just hope they all turn up now!!

Vicente isn’t running.
December 4, 2017 at 22:59 #1330423I hung off to see what was still running at the 5 day stage, and I have to say that
was another cracking write-up Bob
I know VIEUX LION ROUGE is 10lb worse off than when he won this
last year, but after his pipe opener in the Charlie hall he should be spot on. He
clearly he goes well here and the 11/1 with Ladbrokes seems fair.He needs to tidy up his jumping, but if he does I think VICENTE is probably
the one for this. His run in the Betvictor Chase showed he is in terrific form,
he ran on really well and could count himself a touch unlucky not to get up. He
runs off only 1lb more for that and should have come on even more for the run. You
should pretty much know if he’s still in the hunt after the first few fences, he
only got as far as the 1st in the National, the only time he has taken on these
fences, but I’m sure Paul Nicholls would have put him through his paces as I’d imagine
his aim is the big one this year. Still plenty of 12s about, but I doubt
he will be as big as that come the day.December 5, 2017 at 01:25 #1330441Cheers Graham.
Be some effort if VLR can defy that rise, but he certainly does love it round there.
December 5, 2017 at 05:40 #1330443Blak Lion has a massive chance. But i have missed him at bigger prices. 7/2 is to short for me.
I have backed two:
Vive Steve @ 20s EW
The Young Master @ 20s EW
good luck all
December 5, 2017 at 07:34 #1330446If you think he has a massive chance why should 7/2 put you off? Two tenners on 20/1 losers or twenty on a 7/2 winner?
Think he’s by far the likeliest winner, ticks all the boxes! Brings the best form in the race, jumps well, trip no problem, goes on any ground…Nige win this race five times before and I’m pretty sure he’d say this is as good a horse as he’s had in it…
He’s got form with the next few in the market to suggest he will beat those again…only slight negative I can find is if they want to protect his mark for the national and be happy to run well without winning…
December 5, 2017 at 08:39 #1330448Vicente isn’t running.
Still in the 5 day decs…As De Mee likely for the Sefton. Either way I won’t be betting til the day of the race, weather looks pretty wild in the north west this week!
December 5, 2017 at 09:07 #1330456When I say a horse isn’t running it’s because it is a factual statement made from the connections

“Vicente won’t be running the Becher Chase but he could head to Aintree on Saturday for the Many Clouds Chase instead.”
December 5, 2017 at 10:57 #1330467A bit surprised to see Three Faces West taken out
Chepstow ?
December 5, 2017 at 11:58 #1330476Yeah Mark, definitely.
Mentioned on the Welsh National thread that I was on the verge of adding him to my book. If he survives this forfeit stage, I’m going to add him for sure at 20’s, 25’s.
