Not much talk on here for this race, least not from me, as I expect it to be a “no bet” race for me for the 3rd season in a row, however, could be tempted by Skybet going 14’s today only on Peace and Co.
Really just posting in case any of you missed the offer.
November 4, 2015 at 17:21 #1220358Gone a little crazy and backed 5 in this but a great ew race.
Faugheen 6/4 10 pts win. price boost
Peace and co 14/1 1pt ew price boost
Nicholls canyon 20/1 2pts ew
My tent or yours 33/1 0.5pt ew
the new one 25/1 0.75pts ew (regret this one a little)
Hoping for the win and at least 1 place.
Can see the field cutting down to 7. And these odds with the 3 places could be value.November 4, 2015 at 17:25 #1220359Thanks, Bobby. Rare that I bet EW ante-post, but Peace & Co at 14s irresistible :)
November 15, 2015 at 17:38 #1221883The bursting of Faugheen’s bubble will not be music to Nathan’s ears unfortunately, but it will be welcomed by some punters, and by a few trainers.
Post-race I thought the value was Nich Canyon at 6s, but, on reflection, Peace & Co is probably where the value still lies.
November 15, 2015 at 19:07 #1221902Very happy with nicholls canyon £80 ew at 20/1 now, both horses will come on for the run.
Imo nicholls canyon the most under rated horse in training 5 times grade 1 winner and surely targets the champion as mullins has said all along. Paddies at 8/1 all summer new.November 15, 2015 at 20:09 #1221908Having backed Faugheen for Cheltenham all last season, I wasn’t overly impressed on the Champion Hurdle day. I think with his soft lead and Ruby not pushed with setting the fractions he kicked plenty early enough and was slowing at the end with Artic Fire making up ground. I think although he does have speed he is more a stamina horse imo and another year in the field and younger horse’s coming up I jumped ship and have been punching the betting bank into UDS for the Champion Chase. I’ve had small bits and pieces on Faugheen as he owes me nothing and I love the horse. I wouldn’t read too much into today run, Faugheen will be bought along to peak in March not on seasonal debut like last year he was carrying a bit of condition and didn’t come up against anything of NC ability in those earlier races. He didn’t jump great today and that has been a slight problem in the past on the plus side NC going towards the last looked to be going on to a big dist win but Faugheen pinged the last something in which he does when going at a decent pace and made up ground so plenty to play for.

November 15, 2015 at 20:39 #1221916That’s a lovey bet to see you through the winter, Rocky :)
November 15, 2015 at 20:52 #1221918Thanks steeple chasing. Just hope they turn up to cheltenham safe and sound. Can’t dream just yet
November 16, 2015 at 00:20 #1221933From a “no bet race” I now realise I’ve got Wicklow Brave to go with Peace and Co from earlier in the week. I checked the market out of curiosity tonight, and I’ve got Wicklow at 60’s to 65’s which I put on in March?????? I must have been drunk I ended up topping up at 50’s
Anyway, I still think it’ll be between Faugheen & Nichols Canyon, and with Arctic Fire waiting in the wings, I wouldn’t be 100% that he’d head here, though it’d be nice to have a betting interest in the race for the first time in 3 years I suppose.
Lovely bet you have there Rocky, best of luck to you
December 5, 2015 at 21:38 #1224843First and foremost, I hope the horse is Ok, but I chucked a few quid at Josses Hill for this today, at 150’s to 350’s.
If he was mine, I’d be wrapping him up in cotton wool after that fall today, it was horrific, but if they thought about going down this route, I thought it was worth a go. No surprise if we don’t see him again this season though, and I’ll have no problems with that.
December 6, 2015 at 00:01 #1224863Bobby, they should have wrapped it early doors with JH fencing career. The horse has always gone at a fence the way I go at a Rubik’s cube. Should have been back hurdling already. You’ll have worse bets; he was a talented hurdler, and if Faugheen’s bubble has indeed burst, you never know. Good luck
December 6, 2015 at 00:43 #1224864Oh yeah, totally agree Joe, he never impressed at all, I’m just glad he got out in one piece. I hope they consider this route for him at the very least. It’s actually 150’s to 350’s I’ve got on him (just edited my last post), must have got excited with those odds haha.
He’d be my biggest ever win off one horse if he comes in. My previous best was Rock On Ruby for this in 2012, when very much like Josses, I couldn’t understand why they were even considering fences for him. Long shot, but hoping lightning can strike twice.
December 12, 2015 at 10:23 #1225693Backed the impressive neptune winner and Deloite 2nd Windsor park at 25/1 ew NRNB with skybet for the ch. I already backed for world hurdle and hope he turns up there. But if he splits nicholls canyon and arctic fire at punchestown. I want to be on now at 25s.
Rather than a single figure price.
Expect peace and co to win today but if he dosent impressively windsor park could even shorten today.A complete bet to nothing as he won’t turn up unless he’s in the first 2 at punchestown
December 12, 2015 at 15:11 #1225748I wouldn’t write Peace and Co off after that.
Henderson had him dressed up and pulling like My Tent or Yours. Being his first run of the year he’d have been plenty fresh enough and Johnson wouldn’t have gone any pace in a small field so no real surprise to see him blow his chance although I did back him…..Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 12, 2015 at 15:39 #1225754I’m not sure about that, Nathan. I’m writing him off.
Faugheen and his belly wobbled along on seasonal debut but he still almost beat the very talented Nichols Canyon in that horse’s ideal conditions. Peace And Co, in contrast, got utterly ironed-out by a clutch of third-raters.
Not only would he have to improve, he’d have to hugely out-improve Faugheen and the rest.
December 12, 2015 at 16:30 #1225759Can always forgive one bad run but they still don’t look like they have got anywhere close to dealing with his inability to settle – he got away with it in his novice races and the Triumph Hurdle was run at a good pace so they were able to get cover for him.
Now as a genuine Champion Hurdle contender the vast majority of the races he will now be contesting are going to be small fields and very tactically run – if they can’t get him to drop the bridle early on in these races he has got no chance of winning at the business end.
Cannot touch him with a barge pole until he shows me that he can settle in his races – Henderson has a bigger job with him than he did with My Tent or Yours (and I am not truely convinced that they managed to fully cure him of that trait either).
December 12, 2015 at 16:42 #1225762Faugheen isn’t going to be out stayed and a big a but as it is if Peace and Co could settle he has the pace to burn.
Just saying……Blackbeard to conquer the World
