Plenty of hard luck stories in that race.
It was a fair way from home but Kings Oddysey appeared to be in an ideal spot and coasting when he departed. He probably needed a lot more assistance than it seemed Jacob was able to provide. While Jacob didn’t do enough Moore was at totally the other end of the spectrum. Surely he would have better served by sitting off Village Vic rather than continually attacking the leader? He appeared to be riding as if every fence was the last. The very bad error and then the slow jump at the last almost certainly cost him more than he was beaten.
December 10, 2016 at 14:55 #1276554Cheers guys. Eastlake really has killed my day though.
I don’t really know, Darren. Wasn’t really watching the flat this year owing to work. Dabyah stands out in the 1000 Guineas. I think Churchill is probably a good favourite. I haven’t even looked at the Derby and Oaks yet actually. There’s another I like but I won’t mention her yet, just incase!

King’s Odyssey remains one to be interested in off the same mark. My only bet was Kylemore Lough to win based on its good jumping and he actually outjumped Village Vic at several which kept bringing him alongside. But when it counted he botched two of the last three, the error at the third last definitely cost him the race. Even then, and this is my only criticism of Moore, if Jamie had given him a little time to recover, instead of rousting him under pressure to lead, and challenged later he may still have won.
December 10, 2016 at 17:56 #1276617Well done all those who kept the faith with the 4yo Frodon today,I was confident the ‘Mackeson’ form would produce the winner just not that bloody one..My 2 gave me a great run for my money so No complaints. My assessment of ‘Thomas Brown’ and ‘Alomomoo’ was spot on but Kylemore Lough is the horse to take from the race and at one point I thought he was going to make me look a right Dick.
December 10, 2016 at 18:43 #1276631Jamie was unlucky on KL. That blunder at a crucial time meant he couldn’t give the horse time to recover though he should, perhaps, not have been quite so determined to retake the lead right away. The loss of momentum allied to the energy used to recover plus that mistake at the last might have been what caused him to fade so badly up the hill, although it could be costly to assume that’s why he didn’t get home.
December 10, 2016 at 18:53 #1276636Thanks guys, didn’t have much time to study the race so just opted for the two to take out of the Betvictor and it seemed to work.
December 10, 2016 at 22:07 #1276659Well done those with Froden. Nicholls is in fine form ain’t he, really pleased for Sam Twiston too, can’t be nice sat on the sidelines watching everyone else banging the winners you should be sat on, gave the horse a really good ride.
