Peddlers Cross is now a best priced 7/1 to win the Arkle.
Stays two and a half miles, pacey enough to finish 2nd in champion hurdle. If he can jump well he wins.
September 18, 2011 at 22:53 #371321Sprinter Sacre wins the Arkle
September 21, 2011 at 19:25 #371592If Peddlers Cross can transfer his hurdle’s form to fences he should be good enough to win an Arkle. Considering he has won in the poin to point field, it has to be considered likely ha can.
One to keep an eye on in Ireland is Solwhit, who has consistently been the second best two mile hurdler here in recent times. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves because he gets beaten so easily by Hurricane Fly but there’s no shame in that.
He probably needs further than two miles but has plenty enough speed for an Arkle imo, as seen when he beat Punjabi at Punchestown. His Aintree Hurdle win shows he handles decent ground.

doesn’t get up the hill does he?
i backed SS in the supreme was counting my cash turning in but the hill found him out
AL FEROF on the other hand does get up the hill and is my choice atm
but you just know the first nicholls trained stewart owned novice that wins a crappy little race in october will be made 5/2 fav
September 22, 2011 at 23:47 #371716I’d agree that if Peddlers Cross can translate his hurdling form to fences he’ll be incredibly hard to beat. However, one that I think everyone seems to have written off far too quickly is Menorah. Hobbs has always said that he’s a chaser in the making, he looked a smart hurdler and can surely be excused one off-day at the last festival. He also boasts great course form which come March could see him run a big race. Right now I’d go between these two
September 23, 2011 at 14:59 #371762Peddlers cross will hack up. There is no question of his ability jumping a fence. He jumps like a stag and was born to be a champion over fences.
If peddlers turns up he wins, simple!! Arkle will be his first of many Cheltenham festival successes over fences. He is a machine not a horse.

September 27, 2011 at 14:49 #372233I think this is a very exciting prospect of a race.
We know we are almost certain to see
Peddler’s Cross
,
Sprinter Sacre
,
Cue Card
,
Al Ferof
, M
enorah
in this race next year…
It’s rumoured
Punjabi
, S
olwhit
,
Getmeoutofhere
,
Spirit Son
will also be in the race … maybe
Sam Winner
, depending if
Nicholls
prefers the 3m route as he seems a bit more like a stayer?
Good luck picking a winner from this lot?
What do we know now?
–
Peddler’s Cross
can get up the hill, stays 2 and a half and has the pace to make a quick 2m at Cheltenham
–
Sprinter Sacre
couldn’t get up the hill in the Supreme Novice’s
–
Al Ferof
bolts up the hill and so does Menorah
–
Getmeoutofhere
has placed at last 2 festivals so cannot be ruled out
–
Cue Card
has the frame for a chaser and is a festival winner
Favourites have been turned over in recent years in the Arkle –
Tatenen
,
Medermit
,
Captain Ceebee
..
If i was to pick one right now – it would be
Al Ferof
September 27, 2011 at 21:14 #372280My pick is ARVIKA LIGEONEIRE was injured last year but Mullins can get horses back to there best and i think he will be better than ever.
October 10, 2011 at 20:17 #373911Also a big fan of Arvika Ligeonnaire. Looked like a serious horse at Punchestown 18 months ago. Lets hope Willie gets him back with all his talent retained.
October 11, 2011 at 09:45 #374058This race has the infuriating habit of falling to bits during the build up. Horses who you imagine would be brilliant turn out to be no better than fair or in some cases like Crack Away Jack useless.
I hope Peddlars Cross is as good over fences but look at Get Me Out Of Here! He never got past the schooling yard although he may well have another go this season.
I do like Spriner Sacre but he is a bit gangly looking> If he fills out like he should he could be anything which is enough for me not to back Paddlars AP.
Cue Card won well enough the other day despite getting to close to a few of his fences.
The worry with him is he doesn’t look thoroughly genuine and finds nothing for pressure.
If he runs he’ll either win in a common canter or he’s chuck it and throw the race away. Way too dodgy for my liking,
I’d wait 6 weeks before backing anything in this and let the dust settle a bit
November 8, 2011 at 16:26 #376746What a superb prospect for this race, Al Ferof, Peddlers Cross and then of course add to the mix Cue Card who looks made for chasing as well
You decide LOL i am calling Peddlers at the moment but what an outstanding race if they all rock up on the day fit and well!
November 9, 2011 at 09:04 #376858Sprinter Sacre wins the Arkle
Hopefully
November 9, 2011 at 12:37 #376901I’ve backed Peddlers at 8/1 & he takes his first steps to Arkle glory at Bangor this afternoon
November 9, 2011 at 21:59 #376988Peddlers (6s) and Sprinter Sacre (10s) for me today!
November 10, 2011 at 09:33 #377038Despite being worried about Al Ferof i have had one of my largest ante post bets on Peddlers Cross, having studied all the races again from last seasons festival i am more than happy that he will win and also win well
6s still available with Billys for those that enjoy an ante post punt, will go off about 5/2 or 11/4 at best should this monster turn up on Arkle day
November 13, 2011 at 13:17 #377646Good performance there by Al Ferof.
