Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 11, 2017 at 18:27 #1296476Big Mac, was at the yard today,
smoking his head off no doubt, hope they kept him away from EminentCharles Darwin to conquer the World
April 11, 2017 at 18:56 #1296477Yes Nathan Big Mac has just been on BBC singing the praises of Frankel progeny in general along with Eminent. He’ll be at Newmarket next week where he usually makes a point of strolling into the parade ring and sitting on the winners podium watching the horses go round whilst puffing smoke over everyone.
As for Eminent WOW he looks a million dollars he has completely filled his frame and his coat is gleaming. He has a totally laid back attitude just like his dad and was lapping up being on camera. So excited about his chances and think his price might drop dramatically now.
Lights, camera, action…lots of it to come and happy to report that Eminent is looking fit and ready to take on the big boys and become Frankels first runner to achieve Classic glory in the UK..
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 11, 2017 at 20:13 #1296479Two at odds to look at potentially lining up are Barney Roy 33/1 and Cape Byron 40/1. Both well bred types to do well at the trip and powered away to win their maidens at the back end of last year and it will be interesting to see where they start off their campaigns.
April 12, 2017 at 18:08 #1296571I know nothing about the Flat but as Triptych seems a little bit in love with Eminent I’ve backed him for both this and the Derby at 40s and the double at 200-1.
Also on Rivet (because he has won the only 2yo race I have heard of) for same double at 80-1 and one race for each, ie Eminent 2000gns + Rivet Derby double , and vice versa at 676-1.
Hope they run well in prep races and make it to the start anyway.
April 12, 2017 at 23:40 #1296603I didn’t think you’d notice greenasgrass
it was last year at Newmarket when he won his maiden and I walked up to the pre parade ring to look at the runners..this horse stopped dead in his tracks and looked me straight in the eye I just had to back him he’s quite a character
Not long to wait now before he runs in The Feilden Stakes at Newmarket (Tuesday) and I’ll be at the pre parade again to see how’s he has wintered which from what I saw last night on BBC local news is extremely well.
Rivet will be running in The Craven Stakes on Thursday.
Good luck with your Classic Double Greenasgrass I’ll be cheering them home.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 13, 2017 at 04:15 #1296611I would be worried about Eminent for the 2000 Guineas if he runs in the Fielden Stakes. It’s just not a race with a history of Guineas horses winning it as a trial.
Golden Horn went Dante and then Derby in his season. Last year’s winner Ventura Storm ended up in the St Leger.
Earlier this week Martyn Meade said he wasn’t sure about the Craven or Fielden for Eminent, stating that he would prefer softer ground for the mile trip. He mentioned that the horse may be a Derby horse.
The good news for Eminent is that this Fielden looks winnable for him. The best horse in the race is probably Lagardere runner up Salouen, who went on to finish third in the Racing Post Trophy.
The anticipated potential clash in the Fielden of John Gosden’s Cracksman and Andre Fabre’s Akihiro fizzled out as a damp squib, as neither horse was entered in the race.
I am just a bit concerned that the trainer has said there is a possibility that Eminent may be a Derby horse.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 13, 2017 at 16:06 #1296641Eminent priced at 6-1 for the Feilden Stakes so I have put a bit on.

In a way I hope Eminent doesn’t go in the Feilden Steve as Law And Order is also declared and it would make it easier for me. But if he does go I think you are right, he should win it but it’s not a good prep race for the Guineas, the same with The Craven Stakes Winner, but stats are there to be broken at some time or other so will plod on with my choice, will know more when I see him in the flesh on Tuesday and there is a possibility of rain between now and then but please not as much as last year
.Eminent priced at 6-1 for the Feilden Stakes so I have put a bit on.
I’m definitely off to get some of that 6/1 about Eminent Greenasgrass, I think he will run in the Feilden as he’s going to need a race under his belt before going for the Guineas and also so that we can access his chances..good luck
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 14, 2017 at 15:22 #1296715The going at Newmarket is currently good. With that in mind I think Eminent will run in the Fielden.
I feel 6/1 is a decent bet so I backed him and today’s runner Utmost in singles and a double at 6/1 and 7/1.
I thought Utmost was impressive last year on debut. He faces more highly rated opponents today but he could be anything.
South Seas started well last year but his form tailed off slightly. Syphax was bought by Godolphin and it seems tight between those two horses and Taamol from the Stoute stable for favourite.
I am trusting that John Gosden didn’t enter Utmost in the 2000 Guineas just for the crack and the son of Giants Causeway should have plenty of improvement in him. 7/1 seemed a bit of potential value.
Fielden Stakes Eminent 6/1
Burradon Stakes 3.55 Newcastle Utmost 7/1
Two singles and a double.Happy Easter!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 14, 2017 at 16:18 #1296721Plenty of money for Utmost but he lacked the pace to get properly competitive in a race where a few bubbles popped.
I initially felt encouraged by the money for Utmost but when I saw him my heart sank. He hasn’t grown at all from last season to my eyes and when you compare him to the winner, the other horse is a monster in comparison.
South Seas petered out disappointingly after holding a good spot. Taamol was up there but was caught by Syphax, who never seemed to travel but eventually made some headway to narrowly pip Utmost, who stayed on at one pace. Richard Fahey’s Forest Ranger had the legs of them all though and was a mini shocker at 25/1. He had last been seen at Pontefract when third to D’Bai, who had been slightly disappointing for Godolphin after good early reports last season.
As I said, Forest Ranger is a big colt. He is by Lawman and he is entered in the Dante.
As I trial for the 2000 Guineas I suspect the impact from this race to read some where between zero and one on the Richter scale. I doubt any of these will be running in the Guineas. They will be wasting their time if they do.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 14, 2017 at 19:19 #1296755I see my 2000gns dark horse Peace Envoy is entered in next weeks ‘Free Handicap’ at Newmarket and William Hill are going an incredible 14/1,that will do for me.I know he’s entered in the ‘Craven’ too but I expect ‘War Decree’ to represent Coolmore in that…3/1 ‘Rivet’ looks generous to me,he’s a proper horse who could be a Guineas/Derby sort just like ‘Churchill’.
April 15, 2017 at 13:46 #1296901I am a bit worried to see Aidan with horses in the Craven and Free Handicap.
I am not sure how many he has sent to those races in his career but I know he has never won either race.
That looks an unusual move and I am not keen when stables move off their normal paths.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
April 15, 2017 at 16:03 #1296921Aidan has said that War Decree has ‘done so well over the winter that he needs a race to tighten him up’. He also said that likely runners Whitecliffsofdover, Peace Envoy, Roly Poly and Brave Anna would be running to see if they if they can subsequently step up to a mile. But they are also of course running as sighters for the main Guineas contenders, Churchill and Rhododendron. I think Aidan will be running his horses further afield this year (he even has 2yos entered at Newmarket next week), and he will be targeting more G2 and G3 races than previously.
April 15, 2017 at 16:23 #1296924Aiden O’Brien often sends horses over for a blow up the Rowley Mile, now and again one will win but not many, in fact he didn’t have one winner at last year’s meeting but come Guineas Meeting 3 weeks later it’s a different story.
I enjoy being there and actually getting to see some of the two year olds he sends over because come 2018 one of them could be favourite for the 2000/1000 Guineas, Derby or Oaks.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 15, 2017 at 18:34 #1296939Yes, whatever he runs next week will surely need the run, wouldn’t back them for love nor money!
April 15, 2017 at 21:07 #1296949As I said, Forest Ranger is a big colt.
I doubt any of these will be running in the Guineas.
Fahy would possibly agree with you on this, so he declared Forrest Ranger for the German 2000 Guineas.
I don’t know if this is of interest for anybody, as it might be hard to assess him against the German horses.
We have this difficulty often when a British horse comes over, you can’t be more than guessing.. - AuthorPosts
