I am a traditionalist : I do not like to see the field split in two for our first colts’ classic – or fillies’ classic for that matter. It devalues the race, in my opinion.
Yes, Night Of Thunder prevailed – under a forceful and determined ride from Fallon – but I will bet the entire contents of my emerald green piggy bank that he won’t finish in front of Kingman or Australia, should he meet either of those two horses in his next race.
