Whilst the last 5 years or so and the next 5 years or so could be looked at as a golden age, I think 2 of the 3 examples have plenty to prove. Neither Detroit City or Black Jack Ketchum has won an all aged Grade 1 race yet.
Slightly off topic, but isn’t Black Jack Ketchum a ridiculously short price for the Stayers’, arguably the worse ante post price I have seen about a horse for a long long while. I know he’s looked good but his form amounts to very little at the moment. He’ll always start far shorter than he should do and against genuine Grade 1 hurdlers, I’ll be getting stuck into laying him.
