Don’t think the rise is that harsh personally, he was beaten just over 5L behind a solid G2 horse in Pride Of Arras who himself has been raised 3lbs to a mark of 117. Gethin was already on 117 before the race and while I don’t think he is a G1 horse (although Eclipse run too early to tell as he pulled too hard) he is probably also a solid G2 horse.

The 3rd placed Warrant Holder (who considering he was the first off the bridle before they even turned for home has run well) is rated 111 and he finished 2nd under joint top weight of 9-12 in the Class 2 Duke of Edinburgh Handicap Stakes at Royal Ascot and CH finished just over 2L behind him and just ahead of the 10 yr old Dubai Future who is rated 113 and was actually giving 3lbs to the whole field.

I did say I think races like the St Simon and Cumberland Lodge (both G3 run in October) could be viable targets especial with likely softer ground conditions and the fact that he could be up against horses that have been on the go for most of the season where he will be a fresher horse.

Otherwise Hendo might have to be a bit creative and do some travelling with him outside of the UK.
