Dott was unprofessional. Chamberlain was technically correct. Maybe Selby ought to have been more aware of the rules but I don’t expect anything like that had happened to him before. Perhaps Chamberlain should have advised him that he had to play the cue ball from where it had finished.
I assume the rules are still the same. In the unlikely event something like that happened again, perhaps the other player should be allowed to place the cue ball in the D.
In a longer clip, Dott eventually plays a very poor safety shot and gives Selby a chance, which he took. Maybe Dott did so deliberately.
I suppose Selby could have asked Dott to play from where the white had finished.
