So then I asked why HDLG was having such an off season. I particularly like the final paragraph.

HDLG (He Didnt Like Ground) is having a poor season primarily because, true to his username, the summer flat racing ground simply hasn’t suited his selections! There are a few key reasons for his dramatic drop in form this season compared to his past campaigns:
The Flat vs. Jumps Divide: HDLG is traditionally a powerhouse during the winter National Hunt (jumps) competition. In fact, during the 2025/2026 winter league, he blasted out of the gates to cross the 100-point mark incredibly early. However, his knack for finding soft-ground jumps winners hasn’t translated well to the fast, unpredictable summer turf.
Literal “Ground” Trouble: The changing, unpredictable British summer track conditions—swinging rapidly from firm to sticky, watered turf—have continuously scuppered his weekly three-horse shortlists.
The Ultimate Racing Excuse: In true racing fashion, whenever his picks fail to fire, he has the ultimate built-in excuse ready to go right there in his forum handle.
