I assume they still have mad Sunday in which non competitors try to kill themselves by riding round the circuit? My best ever cat came from the IOM. My husband was camping there and found a kitten in a hedge. Nobody claimed him so he lived in his tent for a week and he brought him back in a cardboard box inside his leathers. I’ll never forget being presented with this cardboard box in the early hours of the morning which I assumed was Manx kippers only to find a tiny black kitten who jumped out of the box and started chasing his tail. We called him Douglas and when he died we never had another cat that could replace him. A friend of ours used to compete in the Manx until he came off in the country one year and never did it again. Whether the injury affected him I don’t know because he was pretty mad to start off with. I can point out to spots all over the country where the bike broke down ( Mick never wanted one of those reliable Japanese bikes). In his mid seventies he’s still riding and building bikes and has replaced me with a biker girlfriend who is still riding bikes even though she’s had two serious accidents recently. I’d love to go back to the IOM as a proper tourist as it’s a beautiful place.
