Another horse (Fletcher’s Flight) comes out of the stalls last night at Kempton with no jockey but the blindfold still on. Anything could have happened and there have been plenty of incidents over the years with the horses running loose out of the stalls with the blindfold still on but no jockey. A top sprinter of Tim Easterby’s Fayr Jag was even killed at Ponty.
The BHA continue to do nothing about it. I don’t really like blindfolds at all even to go in the stalls but why don’t they have a rule that they have to be removed before the stalls open? If this fails to happen they penalise the jockey. Of all incidents regarding blindfolds over the years I’ve yet to hear of a jockey being penalised. They should be.
I’m surprised health and safety or the RSPCA have never got involved in this issue.
