One of their fictional fans is McLaren, played by Tony Osoba in “Porridge”.
In the episode when Fletcher is trying to get some peace and quiet in his cell on a Saturday afternoon, a kitted out for football McLaren tells him he should watch the game instead. When Fletcher asks why he is bothered when he is only playing for his wing of the prison, McLaren replies “I’m playing for Morton. Against Celtic. And we clobber them!”
Sad to think Mr Osoba, along with Christopher Biggins, are the only people from the regular cast still with us (David Jason is as well but he was only in something like three episodes).
