A good end to the season and the 9/4 landed. I am happy to accept a yellow card for after timing but I took 9/1 for Southport to win both halves as well.
We were a bit fortunate to be 1-0 up at half time. However, I thought we edged it in the second half and deserved the win. Telford were a team with nothing to play for and in the last twenty minutes they looked like one.
We will probably lose a few of our better players but at least the club is a more attractive proposition in the next recruitment round than we were this time last year.
Fylde won the promotion battle. I am glad they are out of the way.
The relegation battle went down to the wire. Alfreton and Curzon Ashton played out what must have been an exciting 3-3 draw but unfortunately it relegated both of them. Alfreton must be in despair after being 3-0 up.
Hereford had a scare against Peterborough Sports but a late equaliser secured their safety. I didn’t think King’s Lynn would get anything at Chester but a goalless draw was enough.
Interesting to note that the four relegated teams are the four teams with the lowest average attendances.
Brackley and Morecambe will be in NLN next season, while Hebburn join them after winning the Northern Premier League.
