Not even close to the same achievement as Rummy but then the media will big it up to make it seem like it is (like they did with Tiger Roll) – they were already comparing them because he is now the first horse since Rummy to win the race a second time after being beaten inbetween the two victories.
Personally, I think winning it again next year will be much tougher ask as he will be 11 come race time and you have to look back to 2012, 2013 and 2014 where three 11 yr olds in succession won the race but two of them carried 10-03 and 10-06 and even Neptune Collonges (in 2012) carried 11-06 and it will be hard to think that I Am Maximus won’t be alloted top weight of 11-12 again next season……unless a higher rated chaser chances their arm.
Yes it is still a great achievement what he has done over the last three years but on Red Rum’s level he most certainly isn’t.
