I would love The Right to win the next GE.
The current government has splashed the cash so much there’s no room for financial manoeuvre; they have no financial fallback or headroom as ‘some’ have called it.
I want to see the Welfare bill slashed; people taken off welfare who really shouldnt be on benefits; the list of illnesses totally reformed and cut.
Plus, make all benefits means tested. Make it difficult for the skivers to laugh at the strivers.
I would also immediately close all current defined benefit public sector pension schemes (with the 60-day
consultation process implemented, of course). Public sector employees would be put into defined contribution schemes. And totally reform the over-generous early retirement terms that some public sector employees have access to.
Yep, the first thing a new government should do is deal with the public finances, before any tax cuts by the way). Must be the No.1 priority.
Ideally the current shower holding power should’ve began to sort this already, instead of folding to their backbenchers.
