Never been a massive fan of the actual meeting itself to be honest (even the turf events, where form isn’t always carried over into the European turf season) but when they changed over to dirt then it became a no to this particular race as it lost any and all remaining interest I had.
Dubai sold out to ensure that the Yanks kept coming over for the race because they had a greater advantage racing on dirt like at Santa Anita (when they put in the Proride and then switched back to dirt because the Europeans horse were becoming too competitive in the Classic).
It is a glorified £5m US/Japanese benefit race now.
