Week 15 Update

Very much a case of “as you were”, with the top 11 stables all remaining
in their respective places. Most had a few points, but it was just a few
points with Fury Road, Clan Des Obeaux Song For Someone and Champ all
close but no cigar. So a variety of 1.20, 1.30 and 2.00 Points distributed
through many stables.

There were a couple of stables who landed some decent Points at the expense
of the above. Waterloo Road Stables would have been relieved to see a resurgent
Goshen, who turned the clock back to his Arkle days (without the fall)
and simply ran away from the promising Song For Someone and the conqueror
of Buveur D’Air, Navajo Pass. 25 Points for Goshen and a couple for Champ make
Waterloo Road top scorer of the week with 27 Points and the biggest jump up the
league from 18th to 14th. He’s bang in the Champion Hurdle picture now, vying
for favouritism having been available at 25/1 a week or so back. You’ve got a
cracker there Waterloo, and fortunately you’re the only one, very well done :good:

Another stable that was on his own with a decent winner, netting 25 Points
with Sceau Royal. Who could it be, yes none other than moi B-) I’m
basking in it as I don’t get the chance too often. Well done me :good:
Not that I think he’s liable to beat an on song Chacun Pour Soi, but I’m
surprised to see Bet365 still going 25/1 for the Champion Chase.

A couple of final mentions, 10 To Follow had the very decent Chantry House
who strolled home at Wetherby on Wednesday. Much the same story as with
Sceau Royal, in that I don’t see him troubling Envoi Allen in the Marsh
Novice Chase at the Festival, but again I think that 50/1 is plenty big
enough for a horse that I’ve always thought could land a big one. I might
have a few quid on E/W myself. Well done TTF, you’ve got a nice one there :good:

Lastly, while Green’s Wildcards are still proping up the league, I think they
were very unlucky at Sandown on Thursday with Pipesmoker, who to me
looked like he might just hold off the other 2 he was fighting it out with,
only to lose all momentum when he went through the final hurdle. Only 1.10
Points for 3rd place and not the maddest 50/1 place prospect for the Supreme
Novice Hurdle. Hopefully he can bag you a few more points Green :good:

There’s not a lot going on this weekend as far as the league is concerened. The
Eider on Saturday is always a race I’m keen on, and Crosspark is just the type
to take this, but it won’t be easy with top weight. No league horses feature in
it but a couple are in the Close Brothers handicap Chase at Kempton, Al Dancer
has the hopes of Bourne Losers on him and I’m ever hopeful that I might get some
points yet from Slate House.

Sunday sees a popular horse in the stables, McFabulous, hopefully follow
up his good win in the Relkeel last month with another in the Stella Artois
National Spirit Hurdle. If all goes well it’s full speed ahead to the Stayers
Hurdle at the Festival. He’s my star horse in VTC’s TTF, so I could do with a
good result here.

That’s it for this week then, I think the next couple of weeks will be quiet
stable wise as everything is getting wrapped in cotton wool for the Festival.
