I feel the season is starting to really get underway and the horses are looking a lot better, a lot of them coming into their coats now having had a little sun on their backs, Richard Fahey is worth noting with his two year olds and i feel David Barron, Kevin Ryan and Tim Easterby’s youngsters are worth looking out for in the north as their horses are looking particularly well. My most recent list and notes below: CRYSTAL HOPE – A very strong 3 year old filly trained by Michael Stoute who won a novice at Sandown over 1m 2f at 14-1, I loved her in the paddock she is a really well built filly who should go on to win more races CALIBURN – A lovely strong 3 year old colt trained by […]
Grand National winner Tiger Roll was reported to be 75% fit before his belated seasonal reappearance in the Boyne Hurdle on Sunday. Nobody told the three-time Cheltenham Festival winner, however, and he came home 4L clear of his field and is now 12/1 at BetVictor (from 20s) for back-to-back wins in the great race. Gordon Elliot’s equine star is now just 5/4 with BetVictor to win the X-Country Chase for a second successive year at Cheltenham next month and a fourth win at the Festival following previous successes in the Triumph Hurdle (2014) and NH Chase (2017). They were watering to maintain good ground ahead of today’s card at Wetherby and I hope to see winning pointer Kalahari Queen (2.25) gain a first win over the larger obstacles. The selection’s best form is on soft […]
Charlie McCann of BetVictor.com with Monday’s best bets The most impressive winner on a wonderful day’s racing on Saturday was, arguably, Cyrname who made all to easily land what looked a most competitive renewal of the Ascot Chase. Paul Nicholls’ gelding does not hold an entry in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham next month but can be supplemented for the race. He is 4/1 with BetVictor – Non Runner No Bet – for the Grade 1 contest and it will be interesting to see if connections stump up the cash or wait for Punchestown given his best form is, undeniably, right-handed. Monalee was more workmanlike when also making all in the Red Mills Chase and is 9/2 from 13/2 with BetVictor (NRNB) for the same 2m 5f race at the Festival. The ground is reported […]
Cheltenham Festival Betting Advice – How To Bet The Cheltenham Festival Cheltenham Festival is one of the biggest horse racing events on the calendar each year, which lends itself to more casual bettors coming out to take to the betting window to get in on the action. But before novice punters get their bets in, they should take a look at the following advice to make sure that they give themselves the best chance to win. Trust the Experts Chances are, if you aren’t an experienced horse racing bettor that you don’t follow the sport throughout the year. While there is nothing wrong with following the sport only for big events like Cheltenham Festival, it also doesn’t mean that a bettor shouldn’t rely on the opinions of those who do to make the most educated […]
Connections of Leoncavallo were left bemoaning the fact that they cannot run their horse in Saturday’s rescheduled Betfair Hurdle at Ascot as a result of their hurdler not having the necessary flu vaccination within the allotted six-month period – the horse had his last jab in July. Trainer Dr Richard Newland has not been affected by the virus and none of his horses could have been in contact with a contaminated animal. It is hard not to have some sympathy with the owners. A maximum of 16 will go to post for the race with Al Dancer 11/4 favourite at BetVictor and Getaway Trump 3/1 next best. A cracking card at Sandown this afternoon including the Grade 2 Kingmaker Novice Chase re-routed from Warwick last weekend. The mare Dalila Du Seuil is fitted with a […]
Paul Nicholls was bullish about the chances of Give Me A Copper at the lunch announcing the weights for the Randox Health Grand National on Tuesday and the gelding – who is owned in partnership by Sir Alex Ferguson – was the big market mover and is now halved in price at 25/1 with BetVictor from 50s for the great race. Note the horse is 7/1 favourite at BetVictor (Non Runner No Bet) for the Ultima Handicap Chase on the opening day and he would escape a penalty for Aintree if winning at the Festival. The ground is good ahead of today’s card at Kelso where the feature race is the Morebattle Hurdle. Nicky Henderson has saddled the winner of the race twice in recent years with the brilliant but ill-fated Simonsig (2012) and Top […]
No racing in Britain until Wednesday at the earliest following the confirmation earlier in the week that three horses at the yard of Donald McCain had tested positive for equine influenza. Over a hundred stables were being tested on Friday morning to see if the virus had spread beyond McCain’s yard in Cholmondeley in Cheshire. Wednesday would appear to be the very earliest day that racing will return in Britain and I would suggest next weekend is more realistic date, although BHA chief executive Nick Rust suggests it could be weeks rather than days. At this stage there appears no threat to the Cheltenham Festival next month and I feel the BHA have acted swiftly and effectively to avoid a potential crisis and should be applauded for their swift response. The ITV4 cameras are at […]
