Entries out any day now, and maybe one or two pointers in the coming days at Killarney, and Market Rasen.
The 2000 at Killarney tonight certainly has a few likely sorts, and it’ll be interesting to see how Bel Ami De Sivola gets on. At the right end of the handicap, and though there’s been a couple of blips, he strikes me as the ideal type. He’ll certainly be one of an armada of Giggs horses, and he’ll be joined tonight by two others who could here, namely Tell Us More, and Devils Bride. At 20-1, Devils Bride actually makes some appeal tonight, as he’s shown glimpses over the last years and a half, that he could place in this again, having got 4th in 2016. As I said, there’ll be loads in those colours, and hard to second guess just now, but I could easily see Dounikos, and Monbeg Notorious being the pick from Giggs.
While not having the same ammo as Giggs, JP will definitely be represented, and the fact that Rock The World goes here tonight, and more importantly, goes here off of 149, makes him of serious interest. A nice trot round here tonight could see him back to his winning mark in The Grand Annual, and we’ll know more after this heat.
A JP Horse who I think is nailed on to get an entry here, is Geordie Des Champs. Plenty of untapped potential I reckon, and for a trainer who isn’t shy on sending them over, then a big run in The Summer Plate on Saturday, should see him book his ticket. The Nicholls runners in that race, as well as my other Calett Mad, could also take in both.
Others on the radar at the moment, along with the likes of Dounikos and Monbeg, are Kaiser Black, Vieux Morvan, and Sandymount Duke.
Early days of course, but with the entries imminent, and this race tonight, I thought I’d get the thread rolling, and I’ll have a proper look once the entries are published.
July 20, 2018 at 06:10 #1360650It’s the return of the jumps for me this race.
Great to see a special VTC writeup for it too.
I’ll look for something from Gigginstown when the entries come out. A Monbeg Notorious type.
July 20, 2018 at 18:15 #1360686Yeah MoM, got to have a serious look at the Giggs horses here, and I think Monbeg has to be near the top of the list.
Very very impressive performance from Azzuri the other night, he has to be considered now as well, while Rock The World’s Run, as poor as it was, should at least see him drop a couple more.
July 23, 2018 at 23:41 #1360954Entries are out…..

Unlike The Galway Hurdle, I may sit this out Ante-Post, as it looks very, very tricky, but the early standouts are……
Valseur Lido
Jury Duty
Rock The World
Woodland Opera
Calino D’Airy
Neverushacon
Peregrine Run
Calett Mad
Patricks Park
Vieux Morvan
Blazer
Bel Ami De SivolaObviously far too big a list to have an early play, so I’ll hold off having a proper look until the 5 Day Decs, but gun to my head at this stage, and it would be….
Patricks Park (Fav)
Calino D’Airy
Rock The WorldHappy to sit out for now.
July 24, 2018 at 10:25 #1360959I agree VTC, happy to see a horse i’ve a share of entered (Listen Dear) it will be tricky for her to get in tho!
Plenty of interesting entries and hard to go antepost yet.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!July 24, 2018 at 12:51 #1360968Good luck if she scrapes it Jack, but looks a difficult one right now. Nice horse to be involved with, should have some success hopefully.
Yeah, it would be easy to dive in for the sake of it, but just have to sit tight for now.
July 25, 2018 at 20:56 #1361051As usual- maybe even more so than usual- I don’t know where to start. I could back the half the field. So many interesting entries, so many question marks! I think I’ll wait to see the 5 day decs and the weather forecast and that should narrow it down a bit. Good race anyway.
Good luck with the mare Jack if she gets in
July 29, 2018 at 13:28 #1361439Still very keen on my original trio, and that 40’s for Rock The World is outstanding, but only one play for now, as I think the price will half.
Calino D’Airy 16’s Win
July 29, 2018 at 23:51 #1361471A good record round the course VTC and I bet you’re right about the price. I’m tempted by Koshari as think he has a good engine but jumping may let him down. Those two fences close together are a tough test.
Staying loyal to Haymount at 20s EW, my only bet so far.
July 30, 2018 at 09:25 #1361488Hell Mend me for not getting round to this one sooner, her odds have halved
in the last week, but I’ll take the 10s on offer for Slowmotion.
She had a nice prep for this over hurdles in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary
at the start of the month where she was a well treated running on 4th. That
should have brought her on nicely as I’m pretty sure that this was the plan.
The money has obviously come for her, which is a good omen, and running off
the same mark as last year, where she was 3rd, gives her every chance.July 30, 2018 at 12:41 #1361496She’s a lovely mare and was only 5 when she ran so well last year so she must have a great chance
July 30, 2018 at 13:32 #1361501She’s one that I’ve always liked Green, I had her in Bobby’s Ten To Follow a
couple of years back. She’s definitely one with a very good chance
July 31, 2018 at 07:37 #1361575Two EW darts for me:
Haymount 20/1 NAP
Snow falcon 20/1Good luck all
July 31, 2018 at 20:18 #1361694Very happy that I held off with Rock The World, as he’s now 66’s.
I’d fully expect there to be a NR before the off, so that would make Patrick’s Park a win saver, but until then, the one I keep coming back to as third string is Valseur Lido, who showed plenty at Aintree.
July 31, 2018 at 21:21 #1361713I like jury duty for this, has a solid record over the trip and i wouldnt be surprised if there was more improvement in him
August 1, 2018 at 00:57 #1361735If Patrick Park doesn’t get in Ham, I may switch to Jury Duty as win saver, looks to have a real shout.
August 1, 2018 at 01:10 #1361738How about your old pal Neverrushacon? 25s looks OK, thought he might be a bit shorter? I will probably add him, and maybe Koshari – he may fall on his face but jockey has won on him before and rider confidence should be up after big race win on the level. I thought the horse actually jumped better when ridden along and dared a bit so the hustle and bustle of the race might bring out the best in him….or it could all go horribly wrong
