Three Weeks of Triple Crown Races Ahead
The Kentucky Derby is the highlight of the year for US horse racing aficionados and a major event for fans from all over the world. The fact that the race is too close to call only adds to the dramatism and there are plenty of horses who would cause big surprises. Gunnevera and Irish War Cry are breathing down the necks of the two main favorites and McCracken, Gormley and Hence are not far behind. If Classic Empire wins the Kentucky Derby with Julien Leparoux as jockey, he will become one of the three horses to win the main event after prevailing in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Last year, he also won the Breeders’ Futurity and in 2017 he confirmed his quality by winning the Arkansas Derby on April 15. All the details regarding the Derby field will be revealed 48 hours before race day, as the post-draw is announced on May 3 on Kentucky Derby’s social network pages.
