No novice chaser had won the ultima this century.
Epic performance from the 6yo novice chaser to win off 142 beating 152 rated and vastly experienced Shantou Flyer.
That’s a huge pointer that the gb novice 3m chasers are very strong this year.
Elegant Escape destroyed coo star sivola at Exeter off level weights.
I have no idea what people think they are dealing with here but I can assure all that Elegant Escape is a superstar in waiting.March 14, 2018 at 09:15 #1346389

Nobody could accuse you of sitting on the fence Potato, that’s for sure! I like strong opinions, especially ones that people go to great lengths to back up. You have certainly done that, and some.March 14, 2018 at 09:19 #1346391

Yeah potato he really destroyed all the irish challengers in the ultima with ease eh.March 14, 2018 at 09:47 #1346395
You don’t understand ham. It’s irrelevant that there were no Irish runners in the ultima.
For a first season novice chaser to turn up at the festival and take on high class battle hardened top end experienced handicappers and beat them aged just 6yo is some performance and a massive pointer to just how good EE is. Career best performance coming up shortly.

Ramses De Teillee ran alright, but you must have been hoping to see a much better run from him in the Ultima, in regards to EE Potato? He was the novice with the form with EE, not the winner, and he finished 7th.March 14, 2018 at 11:07 #1346421

I’m still all about the Black Corton dream. But I will have to admit that Potato’s sheer enthusiasm has persuaded me to have small e/w saver on Elegant Escape, just in case. Must say I don’t fancy the Irish much.

WHat a story we have brewing.
Harry Cobden the teenage sensation wins a grade 1 chase at the festival beating his girlfriend into 3rd.

Elegant Escape can’t win.
No horse with the enitials E E has ever won the RSA. 😉
I’ve backed Presenting Persy with a saver on Monalee.
I’ll keep an eye on A Boum Photo in the race to see if he jumps better for Ruby, just in case I need another saver.
Combined odds of Evens either PP or M win, looks good to me.

Potato, you brought a bit of fun to the proceedings and I would have loved him to win for you.
I might be the only one, but I am looking forward to your next big hope

Easy as pie for Presenting Percy. Mightily impressive.
Monalee was never really settled. Perhaps Fehily should have just let him go on. He was always covering the low jumping Black Corton who kept hitting fences. Nicholls’ horse wouldn’t have won by any stretch of the imagination but his shoddy leaps meant that he was always working too hard to maintain a lead over a restrained Monalee and that’s always game over.
Elegant Escape ran roughly as he was entitled to do on form but the fairy tale is over.
The word is that Ruby has a broken leg. You can’t make this stuff up and best wishes to Ruby. That’s incredibly cruel luck.
Spoiled a great winner hearing that but the Irish proved best by a long way today. Well done winners.
