Jack Milner of takes a look at Friday’s cards

Jack Milner of takes a look at Friday’s cards The flat is back at Newbury, where Juddmonte’s homebred Mori (3.40) makes her debut in a race won by subsequent Oaks winner Dancing Rain in 2012 and I expect this filly to be of a similar ilk. Midday’s first foal, Midterm, made a winning debut over course and distance 12 months ago, and I expect Mori to do likewise under Ryan Moore. Sir Michael Stoute’s filly is entered in the fillies’ classic at Epsom and is 25/1 with BetVictor to go one better than her mother and claim Oaks success in six weeks’ time. BetVictor are 6/1 for Frankel to sire a classic winner this season and with Fair Eva set for the 1000 Guineas in a fortnight and with over a quarter of the […]

Book review : The Eccentric Queen of the Sport Of Kings : DOROTHY PAGET   Recently updated !

Book review : The Eccentric Queen of the Sport Of Kings : DOROTHY PAGET by Graham Sharpe and Declan Colley Reviewer: David Cormack It wasn’t until relatively recently that I’d learned that Dorothy Paget was only 28 when she led in Golden Miller after the first of his five Gold Cup wins in 1932. I’d always assumed, from the evidence of photographs, that she was older, her large frame, encompassed in that trademark heavy coat and unflattering headgear, giving lie to her youth. That intriguing and, to me at least, surprising fact had me eagerly anticipating the new biography of Miss Paget, written by Graham Sharpe and Declan Colley. For what kind of young woman in the male dominated society of the time, within an almost exclusively male dominated sport, came to own the horse […]’s Jack Milner previews Tuesday’s cards’s Jack Milner previews Tuesday’s cards The flat season returns at both Catterick and Nottingham with Frankie Dettori a, perhaps, surprise visitor to the latter and booked to ride Al Galayel for Luca Cumani in the opening 3yo Maiden over a Mile. The well-bred Zoffany colt must go well on debut however, preference lies instead with John Gosden’s Valcartier (1.50) in the supposed second string cap of Godolphin. The selection was a beaten favourite when all the rage at Doncaster last autumn, when too green to ever land a blow, but is clearly held in some regard by the Clarehaven handler and can shed the maiden tag under William Buick. Buick partners York’s Melrose Handicap winner Wall of Fire in the feature Further Flight Stakes but may struggle against the pair of Moonrise Landing and […]

Jack Milner of takes a look at Monday’s cards

Jack Milner of takes a look at Monday’s cards One for Arthur gave Scotland a first Grand National success since 1979, winning for Kinross-based trainer Lucinda Russell and 24-year-old Derek Fox at Aintree on Saturday. Fox was having just his sixth ride since returning from a broken wrist but showed no rust in the saddle, delivering the gelding with aplomb to lead over the last and storm home to a wonderful reception on Merseyside. BetVictor were hit hard by their Six Places concession, with ante-post favourite Vieux Lion Rouge finishing sixth for David Pipe and Tom Scudamore, and the winner well-backed and the worst result alongside last year’s runner-up The Last Samuri. One For Arthur will head back to Aintree in 12 months time’ bidding to emulate Red Rum and win back-to-back Nationals but […]

Offline vs. Online Horse Racing Betting

Offline vs. Online Horse Racing Betting For some horse racing is a career, for others it’s an opportunity to make some bets with their local bookie. It’s assumed that sports betting was invented along with the invention of horse racing as a sport when the ancient Greek and Romans did chariot racing. It was a very popular sport back then, and people anticipated every event with great passion. I bet that even then there were some ancient bookies that incited people to bet on who’s going to win, or die maybe. Yes, the death of the rider or the horse was a common sight in chariot races. Today, there are many events worldwide to bet on, but there are even more betting operators that want you and your money. It’s a huge industry and the […]
